I don't like the argument that since Dale Davis rarely played last year, that he can't add value this year. He's a defensive specialist who is very strong and effective against bigger players.

Here are just a few Dale stats from last year to get you guys to start thinking about what he can do:

When he was on the court, we got 53.3% of the rebounds, vs. 48.7% when he was off. The % improvement with him was equally split between offensive and defensive boards.

We allowed an eFG of 44% when he was out there and 48% when he wasn't.

We outscored our opponents by 6.4 points per 100 possessions with him vs. 4.5 points without him. We committed fewer fouls and consequently, gave up less free throws.

41% of his shot attempts were dunks or tip-ins.

He played well with CB, Rip, Tay, + either Sheed or Dyess.

I don't see how a guy that got relegated behind Kapono and Delfino will find any time here. And thats why he wanted out.
I agree slip. Even if there's truth to the fact that this trade was done so that we can release Murray and bring in Davis, I still don't like it. I also don't buy it. Why not just release Murray and sign Dale Davis directly and just forget about the trade? I just don't see the point in this trade at all. It seems like a deal for deal's sake.

There's already a log jam at guard as it is - even if we do release Murray. I'd much rather see Afflalo and Stuckey get the minutes. We still have Hunter and Hayes for depth.

I'd rather have an extra Big (even if just for emergency depth) than a 10th guard.

Re: Juan Dixon acquired for Brezec

Dale Davis was awesome last year and I would much rather have to count on him as opposed to Max and AJ if we needed to make some crucial stops.

I don't know when the official roster deadline is for the playoffs, but I know it isn't yet. Otherwise, everyone that was traded at the deadline would be ineligible for the post season.

I don't see any reason why DD wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs if he was signed in the near future.

I got this from an article on RealGM:
Quote:
Monetarily, Brezec will make a few hundred thousand more than Dixon this season and both players’ contract will expire at the end of the season.
I also read somewhere that the Pistons were also sending Toronto "Cash considerations" in the deal.

Re: Juan Dixon acquired for Brezec

I'm reserving judgement, but what we need is help up-front like yesterday. We don't even play small-ball anyway (thank god!). What's the point of all these guards?

CLE will slaughter us. I wish Max was taller.

Thank you, he, he. I must have looked at the detnews, mlive and free press sites 1000 times hoping to find the silver lining in this.

The fallout will be two-fold. Flip Murray will be bought out, probably today, and waived. (Watch him hook up with an Eastern Conference rival and drop about 20 points on the Ps.) The second fall-out will probably be less minutes for Arron Afflalo. He will be used in defensive situations, but unless he's on the floor with some consistent scorers, he struggles. The thing is, Arron was probably going to lose minutes even without the trade. Lindsey Hunter is going to be that defensive specialist come playoff-time.
I don't get it. Afflalo gets limited PT. We start losing, perimeter players start lighting us up again. So our solution is to play him less?

He CHANGED that BOS game. That was a play-off atmosphere. Why is is always about offense?! WGAF. We've been giving up 100+ points the last two games.

Didn't Afflalo just finish fighting hs way back into the rotation anyway? So LH is back, is he suppose stop everyone by himself. Do we not need other defenders?

I'm completely confused what we're doing ? I have been since the KT deal.

Perhaps Afflalo's 19% 3-point shooting for the year and his 31% FG shooting over the last 2 months has Joe D a little worried.

Re: Juan Dixon acquired for Brezec

As long shot guess, pehaps this is the prelude to something big? Like Billups or Rip getting moved. Or maybe he got a great initial offer for Stucky and is trying to get some depth before hand.
