Pistons first NBA team to host all-day telethon

Quote:
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – For the first time in Detroit sports history, a team will devote an entire day, including their game and their broadcast, to a telethon that will raise money for charity.

On Friday, March 14, as part of the Detroit Pistons’ season long celebration of 50 years in Michigan, the organization will host the Pistons Cares Telethon Benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation – Michigan Chapter and will ask everyone in the Pistons community to help them reach their goal of granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The telethon will run throughout the day and into the evening as the Pistons host the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs at 8 p.m. On March 14, fans can call in their donations to a toll free number starting at 6 a.m.

I agree. Sometimes we get frustrated with these guys because they forget to play defense, but here they are spending a full day raising money to help kids with life-threatening medical problems. It puts things in perspective, for me at least.

I'm sure Amir will get a chance to participate. He may have to earn his minutes, though.

Re: Pistons first NBA team to host all-day telethon

i figure the starters should average 35 minutes each at the telethon. The bench will see about 260 minutes each........
