Re: Starbury???

Yuck, no thanks. Wishful thinking from Marc Berman.

Re: Starbury???

I would love to see him on the Pistons.
I've totally respected the guy ever since he started that clothing line.
Some things transcend basketball.
I don't know much about his skills, to be honest, but I would be very proud to see him in a Piston uniform.

Re: Starbury???

Flip would love to have him here, I'm sure. Takes a lot of low percentage, jump shots.

I think Marbury would be good fit in the right system.

If the guy can get in the paint, he might fit in here, since we don't have many players that can do that.

This is only the second year that Chauncey's shot a higher percentage from the field than Marbury has.

He's an excellent pick-and-roll guard, or was. Plays pretty good defense when he cares to - better than any guard or wing on our roster except Rip and Afflalo. Can use his bulk like Billups, Baron Davis, and Sam Cassell can, and he's more athletic and has much better body control than Billups or Cassell.

Plus, he's managed to get on Isiah Thomas's bad side, which is a good sign for his career as a point guard.

I'd take him if he were available and healthy. Of course, I'd start him, but what can you do.

But if you weight the percentages to take 3s into account, CB is clearly a better shooter overall than Marbury. That's the "ShEff" percentage number at the bottom right of their season-by-season stats on ESPN:

ESPN - Chauncey Billups Career Statistics - Detroit Pistons

ESPN - Stephon Marbury Career Statistics - New York Knicks

Re: Starbury???

Didn't claim otherwise. But ggazoo69's suggestion that Marbury's a low-percentage chucker like Jamal Crawford, Jason Williams, or Juan Dixon is not accurate. There is something to be said for being able to finish at the rim.

Whoa there...

Chauncey being that much better of a three point shooter also means that Marbury is even that much better of an option inside the arc than Billups.

There are two ways to look at that stat.
