It would be better with Sammy Mejia, that is true. Amir would then cut into more of Dyess' and Theo's minutes. But we can still win it all fairly easily with the players we have. The league just in not that tough.

Re: Playoff Matchups?

Orlando getting by Toronto is very questionable, assuming the Raptors manage their tanking precisely enough to get the 6 seed. That's probably the only way Orlando fails to get out of the first round (or Toronto is able to).

I would guess that it would be time to rebuild somewhat if the team lets us down again. But would losing to Bostons consitute an upset?

2/ Lack of urgency and lackadaisical effort, (see item 1).

The tired excuse may have some merit behind it, again I point to item 1. Joe D or Flip couldn`t realize the starters weren`t being played to death over the past several years?

I wouldn`t exactly say it was a choke job the last couple of years, I would say the Pistons were clearly out played, outcoached, and their opponents wanted it more than they did!!

We keep hearing how experienced this team is and how well they play down the stretch of games. I honestly believe the players believe that something magical will happen sometimes instead of actually executing, playing aggressively and being focused enough to win BIG GAMES!!

Again, I can`t put all the blame on Flip, afterall, these are experienced veterans that "know how to win"

I still say with the correct mindset this team can still win it all, inspite of Flip Saunders................
If you were Flip and came to this team would you think that only having a couple of starters in the top 50 MPG wise and no one in the top 10 league wise would give an indication that they could not handle the mins?

I think a big strike against us was making any kind of a coaching change. Thats always a gamble no matter who the new coach is.

Maybe they will get it right this time?

At this point with the Raptors and Sixers tied for the sixth spot and going in opposite directions, so I think the Pistons appear to be on course to meet the Raptors in the first round. The Papts have won only 2 of their last 10, and the sixers 8 of 10. The Wiz have won 7 of their last 10.

So right now I see it like this when all is said and done.

Bos-ATl
Det-Tor
Orl- Sixers
Cav-Wizadrs

Plus the Wizards should have Arenas back. That would be something if they beat the Cavs.

Knowing this we probably put forth a lackadaisical effort tonight so it would give the Wiz a better shot of getting the 5 spot and didn't want to show all of our stuff so that we can crush the Wiz in round 2 after they take out the Cavs

Just to rehash the same old (so don't read further if you already know my opinion):

This rotation goes out in the first round:

Billups, Dixon, Rip, Hunter, Tay, Hayes, Dyess, Theo, Sheed, Theo.

This rotation wins it all:

Billups, Stuckey, Rip, Afflalo, Tay, Amir, Dyess, JMAX, Sheed, Theo.
There is no way Stucky is going to get benched for Hunter when the playoffs start. You can go ahead and file that in the Not going to Happen category right now.

I am glad you have faith in Joe enough to think he can prevent Flip from getting his way in this. But I bet Flip is whining awful loud about it even as I type this.

Re: Playoff Matchups?

I think NJ is getting the 8th spot. I am pushing for them too because they are a bigger threat to Boston than Atlanta is.

Boston-NJ
Detroit-Toronto
Orlando-Philly
Cleveland-Washington

Who is most likely to pull off an upset?
