Is it me, or is Mo Cheeks outcoaching Flip?

Earlier this season Mo Cheeks looked like a coach who was on his way out the door. Philly`s GM was gone and many thought Cheeks was soon to follow.

However, after the All Star break his team began to believe in him and play hungry aggressive basketball on both ends of the court. They weren`t supposed to be a playoff team, let alone have a 2-1 lead against the team with the 2nd best record in the NBA.

In two of the first three games Cheeks confused the Pistons with traps, double teams and even straight up man to man defense on occasions. The young quick 76ers played excellent halp and weak side defense at times, thouroughly frustrating the defeated looking Pistons.

Time after time Cheeks instructed his young players to attack the basket, they did with consistent successful results in games two and three. They attacked the boards, out hustling the slower Pistons to loose balls and offensive rebounds.

Philly responded to their coach while the Pistons did their thing. Flip did notice what was wrong, however, as usual it was after the game.

Start AJ in game 4 Flip, then let`s see AJ and J-Max in together late in the 1st Q or sometime in the 2nd Q, that should match the athleticisim and youth of Philly somewhat.

With Dyess breaking his nose, that could be a blessing in disguise, or the way Flip is coaching, the continuing of a curse.

If you start AJ, the Sixers players will target him and target him only and AJ could foul out quickly. But, I agree, AJ needs to be part of the mix.

In reference to your thread headline, it could almost have been: Is it me or is (fill in the blank) outcoaching Flip?

I don't think Flip strikes fear in the hearts of other coaches. He and Lloyd Carr should become golfing buddies.

I'm getting ahead of myself here, but AFTER Flip is fired, does anyone think he will get another NBA coaching gig or will he disappear like Wayne Fontes? (If I had any talent with graphics I'd have replaced his face with Flip's).

He is being outcoached, but the above point can't be overlooked. If there's one thing Cheeks can do is relate to and motivate his players. Hey, Sheed likes him!

You were conspicuously absent after Game 3.

I don't blame you.

I'd just like to know where you hide out so I can join you.

Wayne Fontes didn't dissappear, he sued the Lions for disability.

Re: Is it me, or is Mo Cheeks outcoaching Flip?

Was that Flip on the floor playing like crap? I can't believe how negative people are on Flip when you see them play the way they do. No hustle in the first half, they were not rotating to pick up the extra guy when they double teamed. No crashing for the ball and the usual 20 foot jump shot.

Seemed to have changed AFTER the half time speech. Flip may or may not be a good coach but its not coaching that makes you take a 30 foot air-ball shot, its not coaching that leaves NO ONE under the boards.

They are complacent and don't show energy or care. If they make it out of this one they will get chewed up by Orlando and if not them then Boston will embarass them.

Why hide, it is much more entertaining to read the prattle group.
