Six straight ECF appearances, so what, or a sign of dominance?

For the last six season the Detroit Pistons have been in the Eastern Conf. Finals. During that time they have appeared in two Finals, winning one and coming up short in seven games the following season.

Other EC teams have made deals, signed free agents, and have done whatever necessary to derail the Pistons train to the ECF.

Nobody can deny that six straight ECF is a great accompishment, however, championships are what determines dominance, not second place, each and every year.

I applaud the ECF appearances, but anything short of a championship this year would be a huge dissapointment to some, however, to others, they did make another ECF.

I think it's in between. It's obviously a terrific accomplishment that any franchise should be proud of, but true "dominance" only comes from winning multiple championships.

Well said, D4E. This team is fast becoming the Atlanta Braves of the NBA. Need to change that soon.

Owner is happy...he's making money at this level of success.
Dumars is happy...he's looking good as a player procurer.
Flip is happy...he'll get a new contract this off season.
Fans are happy...They get competitive basketball year after year.
Some fans are sad...they continue to think of the "what ifs".

If he gets them to the Finals, yeah. He got them to the ECF last season. This was expected. No new contract is deserved. Not yet. No way.

I don't think we're Braves-like. We have had a legitimate chance to win it all each year. It's a crazy game and nothing is handed to us.

In 5 ECF appearances, we've gone on to the Finals 40% of the time and won it all 20% of the time. The expected outcome would be 50% and 25%, so we're pretty close to par. If we close the deal this year, then we will have received more than our fare share of the pie.

If we can't cross that # 12 off this time, then the six straight appearances will only mean that once again we became someone else's step child to the finals even though were supposedly the best team each time. If we can 't use the Atlanta Braves analogy then how about Kanye West?? Nominated but no Grammy...

But alas it should also mean the end of Flip's reign at the palace and new ruler of next season.

Not so fast and not so nihilistic. Unexpected results can give the off-chance of a new life force. Take it when you can get it.
