But in terms of a consolation prize for whiffing on that pick, Stuckey looks like he'll do quite nicely.
I agree. At least we got something out of it thanks to the Orlando Magic.

I don't think that would have been true of Bosh. He was very young as well, only one year in college at Georgia Tech. I'm sure he could have stepped in and produced big for the Pistons right away.

In the event of having picked Bosh, the only counter-factual way I can see the Pistons losing out is if they ended up not swinging the Rasheed trade as a result. Then the question is how well they would have done with a lineup of Bosh, Ben, Tay, Rip, and CB. Better than they've done with Sheed? Interesting question...of course, we'll never know.

I think the players could step in and help the team, I just don't think that they would have been given the chance to.

That's not to say that those players weren't/aren't more talented and better picks than Darko, just that they wouldn't be the same players that they are today if they had been drafted by Detroit, IMO.

With each of those players, as soon as the step on the court for the first time, they were the best player on their team (as is typically the case with high draft picks). That wouldn't have been the case in Detroit.

Re: Has Stuckey made up for the Darko pick?

You need a big, a slasher and a point guard (might be your slasher)to gain the option in playoff time.

The league and the rest of the basketball world will be heavily emphasizing the all around qualities of your 1-2 positions. The quality will increase at this position at a prodigious rate. Rating the quality factor and using a stationary entry point of a Nash-Paul eventually (those being a close 10), I would rate Stuckey a six.

Re: Has Stuckey made up for the Darko pick?

Bosh is injury prone. The last 3 years he has played 70, 69, 67 games a year. I know we all love Arnie but he could not make Webber's knee better. I know some people have called hot rod injury prone but a fluke broken hand and a busted knee come on there is a huge difference.

Now I am not trying to get to far ahead of this and I am not saying I would do it but has hot rod made anyone else think about getting rid of Billups after next year? Has the kid shown enough for some of you to say we don't need Billups? Is that the scenario that would have to pan out to make up for the Darko deal?

If we draft Bosh I bet you are correct and we don't make a move for Rasheed.

Do we still win the Championship that year?

Do we even have the 6 year run of ECF appearances without Rasheeds defense?

I dont think we do.

Although not trading for Rasheed or Drafting Darko does mean our current starting 5 could have been Billups, Rip, Tay, Bosh and Josh Smith.

Oh yea, and I think Stuckey finally puts that Thorpe made pick to bed.
