Pistons are 2nd best franchise in major sports

The Pistons dropped from being the best to 2nd best in all of major sports franchises:

http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sport...ory?id=2248555

Here are the comments about the Pistons:

"Last year's top-ranked team moved up in six of eight categories, only to be beaten out by the Spurs (sound familiar?). Minor reason: the Pistons hiked prices ($3 more for parking, $4 more for caps). Bigger reason: losing Larry Brown led to a 33-slot drop in coaching. Even with this season's torrid start, Flip Saunders has to earn the love."

If you're looking for the Lions and the Tigers on the list, it might be easier to start scrolling from the bottom.

SWEET....

How are the LIONS a better franchise than the Tigers?? Not in my opinion i guess.

If hockey were up there, we would be in the top 10 for that too. So 2 teams in the top 10, not bad at all.

Red Wings

Yeah, the Red Wings used to be ranked pretty high on this list. After Scotty Bowman left, though, the Coach score dropped them down quite a bit.

The Red Wings were ranked 8th in 2003 and 15th in 2004. I agree that they could be in the top 10 once NHL is added back to the rankings.

3 or 4 years ago the Pistons were the best franchise out there. This coach score thing is bogus. We'll be #1 buy the end of the season.

Last year, Pistons were #1.

Sure, some of the criteria could be tweaked a little, but overall, I think it's a neat way to compare sports franchises with a little bit of objectivity.

I think we were the best "BBall" franchise the last 5 years. Compairing football to baseball to BBall doesn't really work. Number of games, total revenue, revenue sharing number of franchises per city. Gotta know how's #1.
