That was mainly it. Now if we can only get some acknowledgment that money could have possibly factored into LB leaving?

Anyway. I do appologize for the misleading thread title. No official word has been announced of course. I don't have the time or memory to recall how things went down with the other 3 coaches that were dismissed at seasons end so I have to somewhat trust the opinion of a guy who analysis these things for a living. What he wrote made sense so I posted it with the link so we could all form our own opinions.

In reading some of the posts here I am a little less certain. Those who want Flip out can at least take some comfort in the fact that there has not been an official release stating that he would be back either.

I have to admit, I do have mixed feelings about it. I would like to see something different. For someone to come in and see things from a fresh angle. On the other hand was it really Flips fault that we lost to Boston? They were the better team. Especially with Ray Allen heating up. Thats one thing the other teams did not have to worry about and its no coincidence that they won the last 2 games with Rays shooting.

Flip did a pretty good job coaching the Orlando series. Ran that one about as well as any coach could.

Just something to consider. Overall I think we could use a fresh perspective and Flip may as well have lost the players anyway and once you lose the players it really does not matter what kind of coach you are.

We will see. Dumars sometimes likes to wait a few days before making any decisions so it may be awhile yet.

I am not a big fan of the "there are no other better coaches out there so we may as well hang onto Flip" club. To me that is a sign of giving up. If Dumars wants Flip back then it has to be for the right reasons in that he still believes in him.

I still contend that Ben left because of Flip...the Bull bucks just made leaving that much more attractive.

I also think Ben leaving impacted Sheed a lot. Not just because he was thrown into being the Pistons frontcourt focal point, but also because he felt Ben got screwed by Flip when he took him out of the offense after LB was trying to put him in the offense.

Thinking back through Sheed's interviews, can anyone recall Sheed having anything positive to say about Flip after Ben left? I can't remember him even mentioning Flip's name...maybe I'm wrong.

Great post. Agree with everything you just said. I GUARANTEE that Ben would still be a Pistons with a contract much smaller than his 60 million dollar one if we still had a defensive minded coach like LB

Re: Flip will be back.

Ben had 15 million reasons to leave. Flip was only one.

I don't buy that. I think he would have traded the extra $3M to stay with the Pistons if he had a coach that respected his game.

Nobody but Ben knows whether he'd stay or not.
