Re: Flip not Coming Back per WDFN

We told him to use Amir Johnson but he was too stuborn. He likes playing tired starters to the detriment of the final outcome. That shows lack of coaching. When we had boston down by ten we could have stepped on them by bringing in fresh legs and ran them out of the building. But that would have taken courage and guts. Flip was not the right guy .... we all knew it from season one.

Laim----beer Laim----beer Laim----beer!!!

If we are going to change the mentality of the team; let's go all the way and bring some toughness back to the D!!!! Both mental and physical.

I don't think either are qualified, but I would rather have Laimbeer than Curry.

like i said before, i thought he did a good job here and this was his best coaching year of the 3, but he had 3 chances to get back to the Finals and failed. time to move on.
That's a good take. He did do a pretty good job this year, but at this point I think new blood is necessary to encourage the Detroit fans abroad that we still have a legitimate shot with this coach. The alternative is blowing up the team. Perhaps this is a vote for the players on Joe's behalf.

My vote is for Laimbeer! Give him a shot. The wishywashy, unmotivated traits we've come to know will be shredded after the first 30 games.

But this is interesting that L-beer is not mentioned as forerunner...mostly Curry and Avery Johnson...no need to hurry... There is no need to repeat D'Antoni mistake...

Re: Flip not Coming Back per WDFN

Joe finally decided to read the this forum and bow down to the pressure. Its nice to win games , but if you can't win a title after winning 70% of your games three years in a row, it's time to go.

McCosky advised on ESPN News today that it may be Curry who steps in to fill flips shoes, but if you remember, he was the same person who reported in yesterdays news that Flip would be retained.

I am in Laimbeer's corner too.

Re: Flip not Coming Back per WDFN

The only reason I could see hiring Curry would be that he would be really cheap and Joe could control the team through him. If you get a high profile coach, you have to give them autonomy. You can't hire Larry Brown and then demand that he plays Darko for example.

MC was the president of the player's association, right? So, he must have some leadership skills. Also, we all know that he has a defensive mindset.

I'd much prefer Laimbeer's energy level. I want a screamer in there.
