realistic roster changes

i like the idea to send chauncey to portland, and we get in return :
channing frye, segio rodriguez and their first round pic. dont know if the salaries match up, but if it could be made to work, it would be great for both teams. pistons get a young, underused rebounder, and a great prospect at pg, and maybe a pic. any of you guys like rodriguez ?? it also makes either max or amir expendable in another trade??

i also like tay for ron ron straight up.

comments, feelings??

I'm down. If we get rid of Chauncey, I like the idea of getting a backup for Stuckey as part of the return package. That is a pretty creative deal (does it work? under the rules?). Also, Portland could use a guy like Chauncey to give them some stability and experience.

Also, getting Artest would a gamble, but I love his game.

They don't matchup, in our favor though, once the BYC comes off June 1st.

I want those 2 guys and Outlaw and swapping the 1st rounders.

Re: realistic roster changes

At least its not Denver. I think the trade kinda blows. I was interested in Sergio but he never got past the 3rd chair. I suppose if we dealt our starting PG and used our backup, It would make sense to backfill with a 3rd stringer. Frye has underperformed. He's also a tall guy who plays away from the basket.

As far as a pick goes, I'm against any trade involving a pick. Unless we tear it all apart and go lotteryland, any pick over 3 would set us back for a few years. Joe seems to be into reloading and reconstruction so all our moves would have to be with that in mind. I am not seeing that at the moment.

ESPN.com - NBA - Trade Machine Results

3 of the 5 guys are expiring after 2008-2009.

It's tough to get this to work with BYC crap, but this is close to what I wanted to do.

We get 2 young stud SF's Jack is a lot like a young Billups, Frye is a little bit softer version of Sheed.

1. Stuckey/Jack
2. Rip/Stuckey/AA
3. Webster/Outlaw
4. Dyess/Frye/Max/McRoberts (cut his ass, it's 400K).
5. Sheed/psilocybin/AJ/Rattler/Hardin@29???

(Sheed, Dyess, Rip, Afflalo (Rip if he opts out) and the 3 portland guys all expire) Talk about trade bait...

Portland

1. Billups/Rodriguez/Blake
2. Roy/Billups
3. Tay
4. Aldridge
5. Oden

They have quite a few unsigned picks to deal with, and FA's and the #15 or #13 pick.

Re: realistic roster changes

if we deal chauncey to portland we had better at LEAST get aldridge back. chauncey for frye, an unproven player, and a middle draft pick? no thanks.

If he's available I'd love to get him, but I'm sure they have visions of Oden and Aldridge in their future plans.

You are getting 4 guys 25 or younger.

It all hinges on how "sold" you are on Jack,Outlaw,Webster,Frye.

Jack/Stuckey/Rip is an awfully nice 3 guards.

I'd probably move 2 or 3 guys out of this glut in the frontcourt and try to get Brand.

Sergio is out of spanish olympic team,he is not a strong player, lack of defensive mentality.
Young Ricky Rubio lead in spain steals, and he is a complete player with 17 years old, If CB go to Portland we lose with Sergio, who his the fifth o sixth Point guard of spanish team today.
Aldridge is PF and ofensive player on the paint, just detroit need but i think is dificult.
People say Prince must be traded, but Tay is the younger of our starters,if pistons rebuild must let older player and keep our best young players on the roster.

Sorry but Jack is not even a poor mans Billups and Frye has had A LOT of time and opportunity to prove himself but has not. He lost out to Przybilla last season in a big way. Frye is not a good rebounder and shoots too many jump shots.
And that's not to say Przybilla would be any good for us either. His contract is Nazr-esque.
