Detroit Pistons War Room

With Dumars vowing to change the culture of the team, we have the opportunity for trade speculation like we haven't had in years. The War Room thread was created to gather information to make better (theoretical) decisions regarding player movement. Looking at the big picture, we have MLE's, Draft choices (more in 2009), & trade opportunities.

Some of this needs to be updated and others fleshed out so if you have new info like a player opting out or getting an offer or more detail like our picks situation in 2009, feel free to jump in. I can edit this post to get it up to date.

DraftExpress: NBA Team Needs: Central Division

Quote:
Detroit doesn’t have any huge needs, meaning Dumars will get the chance to draft the best player available at 29. Just for the sake of balance, it’s possible that he targets a forward with scoring ability and the athleticism to be a solid defender.

Re: Detroit Pistons War Room

I've been looking at the mock drafts and I realized:

1. There's no way we can get Rose or Beasley

2. Trades are gonna shake up the draft by the time #29 comes around, and that's assuming we stay at #29 and #59.

3. Looking at the mocks, I realized we have a chance of landing:
- Marreese Speights
- Chris Douglas-Roberts
- Jason Thompson
- Bill Walker
- Nicholas Batum
- JJ Hickson

All of which were probably slated to go higher. We were looking at Walker and DJ White and other people but I'm sure Joe won't hesitate to draft someone with superior talent, even if they didn't get a chance to work him out (Ex. Afflalo).

Excited. Here's hoping for a good draft!

Go PISTONS!!!!

Re: Detroit Pistons War Room

Miami doesn't want the #2 and they are trying to get Boston-like better so they can make playoff waves next year.

I say we send them some guys for the pick.

And then we take that guy from ghgkfgasjkfewqiuikistan

Re: Detroit Pistons War Room

I agree with you Cloud.

For some reason, Portland is stockpiling a bunch of picks.

It's very interesting how the Bobcats obtained another pick especially after LB really don't put a lot of stock into rookies.

Seattle is a team that also havve a lot of picks I think 2 or 3 are in the first round.

For Seattle and Portland to have that many picks with already having a load of rookies, first and second year players, they need a few veterans to even out that core.

Re: Detroit Pistons War Room

Do you think Joe had a hard time sleeping last night? This is kind of like HIS first round play off game of 2008-09. This is where he makes an impact on the team.

Do you think HE was giddy or do you think HE has the been there / done that attitude the day before the draft?
