Re: Bill Davidson speaks

I miss Rick Carlisle. Daly spoke VERY highly of him. Rick was an assistant of his at one stage. Coach Daly's philosophy has always been to hire people more intelligent than himself. So that alone says something.

My prediction: He will lead Dallas right to the brink of an NBA finals appearance in '09.

It comes from having an owner who feels the need now to come out in the press everytime he fires someone and talks about how how eager he was to fire them. I don't like Flip and never thought he should have been hired. But, it WAS Davidson who came out to make the point that LB wasn't a good person and yet, feels the need to rub it in that he defeinitely wanted Saunders gone. It's just lame and he's the only owner I know going over board to hire and fire every coach and then make it known. Ya know, even the Knicks didn't go out of their way to be like, "Man, we couldn't wait to get rid of Isiah Thomas."

I hope I'm still firing people when I'm 93!

It seems Mr.D covered JD's back here. JD wouldn't dis Flip.

I did indeed want him fired. But, I wasn't the guy that went and touted him as a character upgrade. Davidson did.

Re: Bill Davidson speaks

I read Davidson saying, "I encouraged Joe to sever the relationship with Flip Saunders.”

Where did Davidson bash Saunders' character? I haven't seen that.

By saying "absolutely, no question in my mind," Davidson seems to be expressing quite a lot of enthusiasm for sending Flipper back out to sea. Maybe he's slamming Flip, or maybe he's just making it clear that Joe D. has his full support.

Re: Bill Davidson speaks

Low, Flip couldn't match LB in many ways. But he was loyal and earnest and since he wasn't an ego maniac that may have been refreshing to Mr.D. And deserving of a chance with this group.

No one said he bashed Saunders' character. But, if you're such a character guy (as Davidson is portraying that he is), then you would have more tolerance and leniency for a guy like Flip coming up short. Not just coming out and appearing to be leading the parade to get rid of the guy. It's like he did a 180 on wanting the guy to coach his team and is acting like he couldn't wait to get rid of the guy when he was exactly the opposite 3 years ago.

I'm only discussing the owner's apparent lack of decorum at this point. Not about Dolphin's character or his merit for being kept on as coach. I'm seeing a pattern with this owner.
