That's why the only two players that have any weight with me when they say they were fatigued are Prince and Sheed (I can't count how many times Sheed played amost the entire 1st half or 2nd half with a 2 min break. Also Sheed emotionally exhausts himself with all the energy he probably spends quietly driving himself crazy over Flip and the refs.) Am i stating this is the reason they lost? No. Contributing factor? Probably.
Everyone else on the team can STFU about fatigue. |
As for excusing Tay, I'll counter with a hogcap from the game 6 thread:

You make a good point about mental fatigue. The Posey steal is evidence of Tay's mental burnout. He has a way of fading deep in the playoffs after playing well in the opening series'...and it seems to be mostly for lack of passion.
Then there's Sheed. He'll forever be cursed by most for leaving Horry open, but he made a split second decision to double Ginobli who unfortunately made the greatest pass of his career IMO. But also remember Sheed was our best player against the LeCavs. He didn't lose it until he saw no one else was playing to win (players & coach). I think he felt that same frustration against the Celts this year, but it was more effortless knowing Flip would be gone afterward.
To sum up my point...I think Sheed gets burned out when he thinks few others are on the same page and the team drive to win isn't really there. Turtle Tay, on the other hand, seems to burn out as the pressure increases, loses focus on winning, and goes into his shell. Worth $9.5M a year?...I don't think so. He's got his ring, but I doubt he'll get another unless he's sitting on someone's bench when he's 35 holding the NBA record for 82-game-seasons played.
