Potential Unrestricted Free Agents we should look at...

So I was looking here at the list of free agents and was thinking to myself that there are quite a few free agents that could potentially improve our team and we wouldn't have to lose anyone.

Here are a few that coaught my eye:

Desagana Diop - obviously no Ben Wallace but defensively provides some of the same skills

Dikembe Mutombo - see Diop, downside is you would have to limit his minutes (good replacement for Theo though) and he more than likely wants to stay on Houston

Kurt Thomas - few are as tough as him, and he rebounds

Bonzi Wells - dude can shoot, and we know Joe likes him

Eduardo Najera - decent defender, tough guy, good depth behind Tay

Damon Stoudamire - vet PG depth IF Chauncey is traded

The one Restricted Free Agent I will throw in here ,because I think a sign and trade for him is very doable as Jersey wants expiring contracts to make a run at Bron-Bron

Bold = Make a Move for
Italics = If we can get him why not
Red= Not worth the pickup
Blue=Very hard to pull off

If we keep Tay then Najera makes a lot of sense as a backup. He'll beat the crap out of whoever he's out there against.

The only other player on that list of interest is Diop and that's only at a very reasonable deal.

Bonzi and Stoudemire are done.

I think Bonzi and Stoudemire still have something to give in reduced minutes as off the bench depth. Obviously it would have to be on a 1-2 yr low $ contract. Diop and Thomas I think would each be a great fit, and can be had but the $$$ may be an issue.

No mention of Ricky Davis yet. I don't think we would have a problem getting points off the bench from the 3 spot like we have in recent years if Davis were on the team.

Three guys that I like:

Eduardo Najera - an underrated hustle-board type guy.

Bonzi Wells - a little bit of scoring off of the bench.

Desagana Diop - If the price ain't too high, I'm high on him.

No mention because he doesn't care about winning. No way Joe deals with that.

IMO, the season after this has better FA's. I could do without a FA signing this year is it means we get to thow competative money at another player next year.

You convinced me. No knuckleheads. I guess Bonzi Wells is the guy then. Him or Damon Stoudamire.
