Josh Smith

Not sure what direction the Pistons are taking right now... People are saying Elton Brand may go to Miami, and Carmello's trying to get some loyalty pledges out of Denver.

I've been hearing a lot about Josh Smith coming to the Pistons if Atlanta doesn't give him $11 million or so per season. The Pistons keep getting mentioned prominently...

We only have a midlevel, so we'd have to do a sign and trade.... Straight up for tayshaun?

Re: Josh Smith

Interesting but how would he factor in with the rest of our power forwards?

Wish Amir played a little more last year. If a deal like that surfaced then you almost have to go for the more proven young player.

Re: Josh Smith

I'm pretty sure you could get by playing Josh Smith and Amir at the same time at the forward spots. They're both pretty quick and could cover the wing guys (given that the other would be hovering near the basket ready to block any shot that came inside as well).

Josh Smith would be a best case scenario for this offseason.

Re: Josh Smith

An article just came out that ATL is paying Smith. They have no hesitation at all. I guess we'll see.

Late last week rumors surfaced that the Hawks might not be willing to pay Josh Smith this summer and that he might land in Philly as a result. Let's be clear on this, though. Smith is a restricted free agent and the Hawks will match any offer he receives. It's true they would prefer not to go over $11 million, but if they have to do it to keep him they will.

What the Hawks are really concerned about, more than just what they pay Smith, is how much it means they wind up having to pay Joe Johnson, who can opt out in two years, and Al Horford, whose contract will be up in two seasons, as well. Of course, there's a lot of basketball to be played between now and then, and if the Hawks emerge as one of the top teams in the conference between now and then it gets to be a lot easier to start paying guys the big bucks.

Don't get me wrong, he'd be a great addition, however it doesn't look like it is going to happen.

Re: Josh Smith

Yeah I don't see why Atlanta would want to part with Josh Smith anyway, he's one of the more "all rounded" players in the league.

Would love to have him on the team though!
