A coat rack? Are you talking about replacing Darko the super legend, or Darko the player with limitless potential who sits on the bench for most of the game and racks up DNP CDs?
Because if it's the guy who doesn't play, you could probably sign anyone.
Here is the problem. We don't need a starting Center in 2006. We might need one in 2007 when Davis' contract is up.
I'm assuming you are asking about who we can get to not play much for $6 million dollars a year?
Really man, if Darko doesn't play better, there's no reason to keep him. He's making MAD loot. So much loot that he doesn't get the leeway that a late 2nd round pick would get to "develop".
Joe screwed up on this. Even if Darko is a star one day, he made a crucial error and I fear he may be repeating it with Amir Johnson. These players need to be put into professional playing situations below the NBA level and allowed to become adults receiving playing time. Sitting Darko for so long did him no favours. The Spurs would have set Darko up with a good European club and allowed him to play there for 2 or 3 years before trying to import him to the NBA.
Joe's blowing a good 15 million dollars raising Darko. Why not let someone else foot the bill, and only sign him when he is ready to contribute? Crazy IMO.
Btw, I would take Olowakandi or Nene.
