Darko Is History

There is no way they will resign him when his contract is up. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see Joe D. trade him.

DMC does not fit in with Piston basketball. Evans has moved ahead of him and even J. Max got some time tonight.

The Pistons will have to look elsewhere to find Big Ben's replacement in the future.

It's just one game, but this is what happens on a deep team. Minutes are hard to come by. Second half, first half, blowout, tight game, every time on the court is an audition for more PT.

The only guys with guaranteed minutes are Dice and Arroyo.

Pretty much. At this point I do hope we trade him. I think he'll be a very solid player, but he won't be here. I would rather get something for him that can help us now than have him rot on the bench for 2 more years before letting him walk.

Actually, he must be pretty wack. Dyess is having a bad season and still gets far more PT than Milicic. And Saunders has shown he wants to play him but stopped doing that.
Joe D. probably has problems to give up one of the most wasted picks of all time and still hopes he's gonna develop into the great player everyone was hoping for.

I still don't get it

Maybe someone will clue me in. I just looked at the stats from the last game and it looked to me that DMC, JMax and Davis had the same stats, except that JMax had time to jack up a missed shot in less than a minute. And of course, DD was in for about five more minutes.

JMax had the benefit of four years at a good college program after four years in a good high school program, and Davis has been a pro forever, so how does this make DMC any worse than they are ??

I didn't think the NBA paid off on facial expressions and the ability to play without chewing your gum.

still hope for dmc

to put it simply darko just isn't what we need NOW. but he will be in the future. i feel darko can easily be a 15 pts, 8 rebs, 4 assist, 3 block guy on an expansion team. darko is the type of player that needs quite a few minutes to get results. the pistons really only can offer 5 to 8 minutes. so basically darko needs to get some keep him happy time until next year when he can really start competing for minutes with the big 3. we have that luxury of keeping him because we simply don't need him to be great right now.

mcdyess is getting playing time based on his past achievements not on results. flip is getting him playing time so he can work out his kinks. it is no reflection on the quality of dmc. joe d has had no problem shipping people out. so i don't think he has an attachment to dmc. joe wants to win not save his face.

Cant compare Dice to DMC. Everyone knows what Dice is capable of, and he'll get every chance to get back to that level. No one knows what DMC is capable of. Darko needs to watch Delfino, Evans is getting PT over him, even though Evans keeps having up and down games, even last night with 9 pts, and 5 boards, Evans still had a bunch of defensive lapses. But Delfino comes in, plays hard, plays well, and is making it harder and harder for Flip to keep him out of the lineup.

In Darko's favor, none of our Bigs are playing well. Something's up with Ben. Did he ever get his bone spurs worked on over the summer? Dice is off. And Davis in limited time hasn't shown anything, so by default, Darko will eventually start getting some more bench time. He better be ready to take advantage of it.

BTW, read a review of Darko's infamous 5 minutes against the Knicks, and the writer said Darko messed by trying too hard, and being nervous. I'll take those kind of errors over not trying hard enough.

That's the point- I can udnerstand the philosophy of playing people because of their past achievings during playoff time. But not during the season which is well needed to find out the right mix.
And this far, Flip was willed to play DMC and suddenly stopped although he was not that bad. Sheeds, Bens and Dyess' efforts are certainly not the reason so he himself's gotta be the reason.
why Joe D doenst trade him?
Probably cuz he ain't got no trade value in the moment.
