Indeed. At least then we would get a candid take on the org. and locker room.

I think we'd be better off making an effort at signing this guy then the bumm that gets paid to play basketball....

According to Det News today, the Pistons will not be using their full MLE so they guys might be out of reach.

Re: Two words: Kwame Brown

I would like for Joe to work him out and see what he has to give. If Curry is going to be our tough guy leader, who knows what may come out of it.

What is stopping this guy from gettin better??

Another poster had led me to believe that we would be under the cap.

I have to look into this.

I definitely wouldn't compare Kwame's situation to Ben's before Ben came to Detroit. Ben came into the league undrafted, hardly a "bust," because nobody ever expected anything from him. CB could fairly be described as a disappointment the first few years of his career, considering the high expectations of being the #3 pick, but he was showing signs of improvement in Minny just before Joe signed him. Kwame, on the other hand, is already one of the biggest busts in NBA history. I don't think there's any chance of him ever getting better than he already is.
Last interview with him I saw (granted, it has been a while) he didn't sound like he had a chip on his shoulder at all.

Diop is no where near as talented as Kwame, but he seems to play hard. The biggest knock on him coming into the league is that he was VERY raw, but it seems like he is starting to figure things out a bit. I still wouldn't want to throw a big long term contract at him, but I like him a lot.

They were saying that DET is near the lux tax threshold once they fill out the roster. They probably are under now because they have 8 guys or so signed. Good times!

Re: Two words: Kwame Brown

I don't think there's a need to hurry and sign Kwame. I agree that he doesn't appear to have much of an inclination to get better. He seems to be contempt.

Agree. He's a pretty decent shot blocker but gets into foul trouble. A year with Sheed could make a substantial difference to his game - learning to move his feet better, when to reach, when not to, etc.

Question for me is, would that year be better spent working with Samb? I don't think he's any rawer than Diop was a couple of years ago, and has better physical skills. I'd rather see him playing some.
