Two words: Kwame Brown

We all know the deal. 7yrs in the L. Big kid. Only 25 yrs young. Teeney weeney hands that hinder him from making catches under pressure.

We need to get bigger in the middle, up the rebounding particularly on the defensive end, and allow Sheed, Dice, Amir and Maxi to play their natural position at the 4, whoever of them is still with the team. I for one do not want to see Kendrick Perkins beat us like he was our daddy, next ECF.

We have the MLE which should be enough to score Diop or Kwame. Both are solid defenders and rebounder's, if not two of the better ones. Same age. Both off the bench last season for similar minutes and production. Diop is the better shot blocker.

I am kinda leaning towards Kwame. Now before you slap me around as if I had just suggested we trade Billups and his enormous ego, Joe D has a reputation for bringing in journeymen players who seemed to under achieve at previous stops, or have the potential to achieve more in the Pistons environment. Big Shot and Big Ben are the obvious ones. Guys with something to prove who just needed the right team and a GM to believe in them.

I know we all have flashes of the Nazr/MLE debacle, but does Kwame have a big enough chip on his shoulder and the untapped talent to turn his career around in Motown?

I don't think he does. There's a reason everyone was describing the Pau-to-LA deal as highway robbery for the Lakers.

I definitely wouldn't compare Kwame's situation to Ben's before Ben came to Detroit. Ben came into the league undrafted, hardly a "bust," because nobody ever expected anything from him. CB could fairly be described as a disappointment the first few years of his career, considering the high expectations of being the #3 pick, but he was showing signs of improvement in Minny just before Joe signed him. Kwame, on the other hand, is already one of the biggest busts in NBA history. I don't think there's any chance of him ever getting better than he already is.

Re: Two words: Kwame Brown

I don't know of any severe drug problems in Kwame's recent past, which was one of Bedford's main problems. Kwame is maybe more like Michael Olowokandi, a top draft pick who just plain sucked.

Re: Two words: Kwame Brown

Kwame would be a poor man's Nazr Mohammed. I'd rather sign Paul Shirley.

Re: Two words: Kwame Brown

Actually, when I was driving home through DC the other day, I saw some Kwame Brown election signs on people's yards, and I was all "WTF? Some Wizards fans want him back?" But then I got home and realized they must have been in referece to this guy.
