In trades it takes two to reach into agreement, even drafting is not "soloing", as it has been already mentioned, many draftees had expressed their preferences before drafting and GM's were forced to take into considerations those.

I mean, there is not much of what GM has control over.
Believe it or not Detroit is not as a desirable destination as we think it is. Some idiots actually like playing in Sunny Cali and Flor, or the warm Texas climates??? Go Figure, why are we the only folk who appreciate Woodward Ave, F-150's, The best greek food outside of Greece (for crying out loud our best Pizza comes from a place called Papalis!!!!), coney dogs, Vernors, Faygo and Better Made potato chips. Screw them tropical pansties.

Yep I miss those Better Made potato chips and Faygo....we finally got Vernors out there though, but you'd have to pay me a lot to comeback too.

You're making me homesick talking about that food. My first return trip to Michigan since moving here comes at the end of this month. Real Coneys, Buddys Pizza, real Chinese food, Frankenmuth.

I wanna do it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Pistons Targeting Posey?

ESPN: 'Baron Davis agrees to sign with the Clippers'. Detroit Pistons could benefit. - Detroit Pistons Full-Court Press - MLive.com

Purely Speculation, but would be nice if true . . .

Which all still leaves Corey Maggette without a team. The Warriors will now have money under the cap, but no current need for the position Maggette plays. The other two teams that are far enough under the cap are the Philadelphia 76ers and the Memphis Grizzlies, with the 76ers having no need for him and Magette probably not eager to play in Memphis.

Corey Maggette is a player the Detroit Pistons would love to land, especially for the Mid-Level exception. But his availability and the lack of teams with enough cap space to offer him anything other than the Mid-Level might lead the Pistons to another available player.
July 1, Boston Globe: The Celtics have made contract offers to two forwards: Their own free agent, James Posey, and Clippers free agent Corey Maggette, sources told the Boston Globe. The most the Celtics could offer is the mid-level exception (about $5.8 million), and it's doubtful that they could sign both players. The terms of the offers were not disclosed.
So, if Corey Maggette were to opt to play with Kevin Gartnett and the defending NBA Champion Celtics for the Mid-Level exception, that would leave James Posey free to sign elsewhere. And the Detroit Pistons are rumored to be very interested in James Posey.
July 1, Detroit Free Press: The Pistons are interested in 6-8 forward James Posey, FoxSports.com and the Boston Globe reports. The FoxSports Web site writes: Although the newly crowned champion Celtics don't want versatile sixth man James Posey to leave as a free agent, he made only $3.2 million last season and both the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers have shown considerable interest in landing the deluxe defender who seemingly always knocks down the open 3-pointer.
If not BOS, i figured it owuld come down to those two (although you can't count out the Spurs)

I also read that we were targeting CJ Miles, Pietrus, and James Jones (another MLIVE article). Also i would say Quinton Ross deserves a look, but he's redundant w/ AA.

Re: Pistons Targeting Posey?

Can you all be logical for a minute. Posey OPTED OUT of like $3.5Mill, so he's going to want more than that. The full MLE will give him a 5 year $40 mill deal!!!! For a guy over 30 to play 15-20mpg.....gimme a break. Joe needs "A" Posey, not Posey. Simply put, when the C's and Heat picked Posey up nobody knew he would contibute as well as he did to the SYSTEM, he was an unexpected - pleasant surprise. We need to find a player who will be an unexpected pleasant surprise. Believe it or not, it's the scrubs you gamble on that make the difference. Joe needs a SCRUB!!!!! Not an overpriced/overhyped MLE BUST....can you say Naz-Mo!!!!

Can you say Antonio McDyess? How'd we get him? Maybe Chauncey Billups rings a bell. Nazr was a scramble signing to try to make up for losing Ben by getting the only big body out there.

Joe looking for a "diamond in the rough" on the cheap has gotten us Mo Evans, Flip Murray, Jarvis Hayes, etc. AKA a huge hole in the rotation behind Tayshaun.

Giving Posey the Full MLE for 4 years or so would completely solve our desperate backup SF need that has been ongoing since 2004. He is the perfect player for what we need. He plays his ass off on every possession. Has size to guard bigger SFs. Deadly 3-point shooter. Hits big shots. And has Rings with 2 different teams. On top of that, landing him would be a huge blow to the Celtics bench.

If I'm Joe I'm doing absolutely everything in my power to land him. Stuckey / Afflalo / Max / Amir is a great bench with three 6moy candidates.

Re: Pistons Targeting Posey?

Posey is a must sign if Joe D has a chance to get him. No matter if it takes full MLE. I want him more than Corey. We would have three very good players of the bench (right now, without trades) - Posey, Stuckey, Maxiell.

Posey is a lock down defender and i can see him playing 25-30 minutes a game (he can get some time as a power forward with Sheed and Dyess playing less minutes).

We need a second good perimeter defender (i'm not counting Afflalo here yet) who can stop first option of opposite teams.

Contract we would have to give him may be long but he is one of the players that give you championships.

Signing Posey gives us more options. He is a reliable 3 point shooter but he doesn't need to be involved in every possesion to be effective. Hayes wasn't reliable as a shooter (streaky, his shooting was off too often) and his defence can't even be compered to Posey's.

When i saw someone compering him to Delfino i couldn't believe what i was reading...

No split. First come, first served. Snooze you lose, etc.

Re: Pistons Targeting Posey?

The difference between Boston and Us winning the Title last year was that they signed Posey.

end of story.

Posey hits big 3's and absolutely torments Prince, LBJ, Kobe, Rip.

Plus he can handle himself on switches vs almost anyone.

And he brings a dirty toughness.

We have to sign either he or Magette. I'm tired of half assing it and running Prince into the ground.

How about if I %%%%% about it beforehand

And I complain when it doesn't happen? Fair enough?
