It may have worked out a little better if the coach had used him differenty and if the other players had worked with him more. I recall some reports where the other starters would change the plays and not let him know. Kind of hard when you are the only one that does not know which play is being ran.
That's why i don't really compare using the MLE on Posey to that. Nazr sucks. Joe had a nervous breakdown. Posey is a 2-time champion and proven player. Totally different situations.

They were saying the same thing about Nazir. 2-time champion, proven player. At least I think he was a 2-time champion. Kind of did well against our team in the 05 finals anyway.

Posey and nazr were heavily dependent on their star players so I believe that posey wouldn't shine here as he did in Boston...

Posey knows that his price has been higher than now (and won't ever be) so he does it right to pump up his price....

Whoever was saying that about Nazr obviously didn't watch him play. He sucked. It was obvious. In fact, i remember a majority of posters caliing the move for what it was, a panic signing.

On the other hand, Posey even played well on Memphis.

Well you found one poster that does not think Posey would be a good pickup for us. A soon to be 32yr player who shoots under 40% - I will pass. I think he looked better than what he was with the talent around him which is very similiar to the Mohammed situation. At least Nazir was thought at the time to have an upside.

Besides I think the trend should be to add players on the upswing of their careers not the downside. Afflalo and Amir can play some SF so I would go in that direction.

Sometimes I wonder if different posters come in for the offseason. During the summer people want to add vets but as soon as the season starts they want the young guys to play.

I'm pretty sure our team is talented as well. We are not MEM (although speaking of MEM Posey looked good there as well)

-------------

We don't have a back-up SF so getting Posey takes no minutes away from the young guys. Amir will get his time, and AA will get his backing up Rip. It's not an issue. '

People are seriously underestimating this guy's contributions. I've watched him shut down various players of on our team year after year.

Defense at SF is crucial. Tay's not cutting it against the stronger players (ex; Pierce,LBJ). Our perimeter defense was our undoing last year, and this will prevent it from happening again.

Talented? Yes. Talented to the degree of a San Antonio/Miami/Boston?

No Way!

Why?

No superstar.

None whatsoever. Not even a guy thats really "close".

Thats the difference between the teams that made "role players" like Nazr and Posey look good...and us.
