Posey Hits the Market

Here is a Boston.com article about Posey and possible destinations. Notice Detroit is not mentioned. Normally, this would not be a big deal to me but I happen to believe he would be an EXCELLENT fit for our squad. What's Joe waiting on? Then I have to read about us possibly signing Delfino??? I'm sorry but he will not get us past the recently improved Sixers let alone the Celtics!

Well you are correct, the article says he has been contacted by contenders and no mention of the Pistons...does that mean we are no longer contenders and just pretenders? Has Joe even worked out anyone other than the draft picks?

Well, apparently so, according to this article from the Freep:

Pistons work out legendary project Unka Debunkalogo for third straight day.

Sorry guys, I couldn't resist!

Re: Posey Hits the Market

Wouldn't you guys have been a little concerned about adding another 30+ year old player on a long contract?

Posey will be turning 32 during next season so his best days are behind him.

Seems like he would be a good fit for a team that already has all the peices and is seeking added depth, as in our 05 or 06 teams. But thats not us anymore. Pistons need to retool not add another aging player. Posey only would have taken PT away from our rebuilding projects.

Celts probably would have been the best fit for him at this time, he should have just stayed there.

Re: Posey Hits the Market

The four or five year contract Posey is reported to want is pretty daunting. Of course, he's in good shape and hasn't played all that much over his career.

That's what I've been trying to say all along.

Where's the Beef???

They can put all the lettuce, tomatoes, and condiments they want between those sesame seed buns. It's nothing but a a glorified salad until you add the meat!!!

Re: Posey Hits the Market

I'd say no to a long term contract for Posey...please no!

He's just the bun and tomato and all that stuff Darth said.

True, that's what makes the CJ Miles rumors a bit unusual.

Re: Posey Hits the Market

He is old, our bench is (in my opinion) deep so we can give him a contract that starts with the highest value in the first year and gets smaller every next year. I think it's fair.
