| Re: Vegas anyone???? Samb being 215 is stupid, don't listen to the announcers they're just reading the same stat sheets we can all find on the net. He was substantially bigger than Amir out there, I'd say he's at least 250. All in all I had fun watching the guys play. It's great to get to watch a young player like Stuckey...really really great. Fun too. |

| Re: Vegas anyone???? Am reading that Amir looked lost on defense and his overall game wasn't as polished as it should have been for a guy w/ the hype and expectations surrounding him. Any info from the guys and gals who actually watched the game will be helpful. Is Amir ready? Excerpt from MLive article: Amir Johnson showed the same promise and problems that he has had throughout his 3-year NBA career. Playing nearly 17 minutes, getting 12 points and 4 rebounds, but finishing with 9 personal fouls. At times Johnson looked like he could be the dominant big man the Pistons need off the bench, and then he had to down to the defensive end of the court and show that he can't seem to play defense without fouling. It had to be frustrating to Joe Dumars, who was in attendance for the game, to watch the Johnson show so much of the skills that Dumars knows he has and then in the next instant look absolutely lost and committing a foul. This is only the first game of the summer league, so Johnson still has some games to adjust. But he is going into his fourth NBA season and must start clicking with how the game is supposed to be played. | Re: Vegas anyone???? I am reading the same sort of reviews from reasonably good posters on MLive and DetNews forums. General impression is that Amir has potential but has not shown considerable development on the defensive side or any low post game. I am wondering if Joe counted his chickens before they hatched and rewarded Amir w/ a sizeable contract before he really proved his ability at this level. Need to focus on a quality veteran addition to the bench. |

I thought Sharpe looked pretty bad as well. I am surprised to read the papers to see how well he played. I watched the game in 2 parts so I watched the 2nd half live and the 1st when they replayed it. I think he started out better, but my opinion was formed by my first impression. Plaisted was the best of the 2nd round picks by far to me. I don't think that is good news. Did Samb block a shot? He looked a lot better/agile on offense to me. The play by play guy kept calling Will Bynum Andrew Bynum and Stuckey Stoookey. I don't think Kobe scored a point out there. That is defense. |
