Re: Acker will try to make the Pistons team

Last I saw of Acker, he could not stay in front of an NBA guard. Any of them. In contrast, Afflalo is great at this. So unless Acker has been working on his D pretty fierce these past couple of years, I would bet on Afflalo. Could Acker have improved his defense to make our 15th spot? Great if he did. Can't hurt to carry another practice player.

Re: Acker will try to make the Pistons team

Dispite my past VSL gushing for Acker...I have essentially given up hope that he will get an opportunity. I would be surprised if Curry is as true to his word as he claims. Not that I have a problem with Curry this early. I just don't see it happening for Acker

Re: Acker will try to make the Pistons team

Isn't there a reason that we haven't released his rights?

We are loaded this year though, so I agree that he probably doesn't have a chance at making it.

Since the $ in flying in Europe, it seems like he should just look for another contract there.

Pistons sign guard Alex Acker to contract -- chicagotribune.com

Quote:
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Pistons have signed free agent guard Alex Acker to a contract.

The team did not disclose terms of the deal, which was announced on Monday.

Detroit selected Acker in the second round of the 2005 NBA draft as the 60th overall pick. He played five games with the Pistons during the 2005-06 season, averaging 1.8 points and 1 rebound a game.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound Acker has played overseas for two seasons. He averaged 6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1 assist in 30 games for FC Barcelona last season. He previously played for Olympiacos in Greece.

Acker ended his college career as the 20th all-time leading scorer in Pepperdine history with 1,273 points in 88 games.
