Still no guarantee
Former Pistons draft pick Alex Acker is expected to be the only player in Detroit's training camp without a guaranteed contract.
The Pistons drafted the 6-foot-5 combo guard with the last pick (60th overall) in the 2005 NBA draft. He appeared in five games as a rookie in 2005-2006, averaging 1.8 points and one rebound per game.

Re: Acker will try to make the Pistons team

If nothing else, it creates a more competitive try-out type atmosphere for the team. Players should feel like they need to win their spots.

Acker has some talent and some experience. I have no idea if he's capable of challenging for the 3rd string, but it sounds like his salary is low and not guaranteed.
