Camby to the Clips for...nothing

9.1 points, 13.1 rebounds, 3.6 blocks and 3.3 assists in 79 games last year.
NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2007, and has been named to the NBA All Defensive Team every year since 2005.

For a SECOND ROUND PICK? What the hell is going on?

Which one are they gonna slide to PF, and by that I mean...when is Kaman going to suit up in a pistons jersey????

Re: Camby to the Clips for...nothing

clearly they want to dump his salary. They have 3 guys with max contracts...two of them under the old CBA, and another untradable overpaid guy with Nene. Looks like they are committed to building around Anthony. If I remember correctly Iverson's contract expires the year that Wade and LeBron are free agents.

I was wrong, Iverson has a 20mil salary expiring this year. K-Mart still has 3 years but will be tradeable in 2.

With sheeds expiring contract, they would have a lot of cap space next year as well. a sheed, camby, thornton, davis, gordon line up lookin pretty solid.

with the clips out of the picture a sign and trade with josh smith or okafor might happen now to give them either team some much needed experience. who knows...

I'm not a salary cap expert by any means, but would we have been able to make a deal like that for a 2nd round pick ? I'm assuming we would go wayyy over the luxury tax and don't even have the cap room in the 1st place to do it.

Sheed >>>> Camby

so i don't care too much about this.

I think so. If, for instance, a deal based around Sheed/Tay/etc for Melo/Nene happend, they would lose 16Million more in salary next year. Combine that with AI's expiring deal, and you've got a chance to rebuild pretty quickly. That would put them at about 29 million in salary heading into '09/10. Making them huge players in the free agent market.

Do you think that would make us a better team? I haven't watched melo play that much, but for all those melo fans out there---is he as horrible a defender as everyone says?
