Tayshaun backs Chauncey

Tayshaun Prince: "I think we should stand pat" - Detroit Pistons Full-Court Press - MLive.com

Quote:
Tayshaun Prince is overseeing his second annual camp for Kentucky youngsters at the Kentucky Basketball Academy, the kids got to ask Prince some questions as he tries to teach them what he knows about basketball and life.
July 16, Kentucky.com: A total of 275 campers are split into two divisions: 7-to-11 years old and 12-to-18. Prince has a staff of 28 to run the three-day camp. On Monday, Prince will report to Las Vegas for four days of Team USA workouts, culminating in an exhibition game against Canada. Team USA will play four games July 31 through Aug. 6 at Macao and Shanghai, China. Then it's on to Beijing for the Olympics, which open Aug. 8. Team USA begins Olympic play Aug. 10 against China.
"I'm excited," said Prince, a 6-foot-9, 215-pounder who has spent his six-year pro career with the Detroit Pistons. "The only thing I'm not excited about is the flight. Other than that, I'm really looking forward to everything. It's going to be an experience I'll never forget."
With the new USA Olympic basketball team now coined the "Redeem Team", there will be some pressure on Prince and his teammates to bring back the gold from China. Nevertheless, it should be a very special experience for Prince.
As for one of the questions from the kids.
Prince on the Pistons and possible roster moves by General Manager Joe Dumars: "I know he's looking at several opportunities to see what's out there. But ... this is a team where I've been there six years and I've been to the Eastern Conference finals or better every year of my career. A lot of people don't get the opportunity to say that. "A lot of people don't get the opportunity to experience winning an NBA championship, getting to the finals. Those type of things don't come without hard work. I thought my whole team did a good job of that throughout my career there. Like I said, I think we should stand pat because the coach that we have (Michael Curry), he's a very experienced guy even though this is his first year of coaching. He's a very experienced guy. He's been with us. He's played with us -- our core group of guys -- and I think it would help out tremendously by having him as our coach, knowing what to expect from him. He knows what to expect from us."
With Tayshaun's name popping up in various trade rumors and his boss saying he will make significant changes, he may not get his wish for the Pistons to 'stand pat'. Whatever happens, Tayshaun Prince will keep giving back to his old college, kids and have that Championship ring.

Stand pat because we've been there, done that, and now we have a been there, done that coach. They have experience. That will get them over the hump.

No big deal.

You know what I'm saying?

Reading that makes me want to trade him before the sun sets.

I think what he's really saying is Flip sucks, he's inconsistent, and we had no idea what to expect, now that we have somebody who won't BS us, and can actually coach, we're good to go. Sheed won't be pissed off all the time, Chauncey won't chuck, the bench will play and we'll actually play defense aka Go team!

He just can't come out and say all that.

That's my very interpretative interpretation

edited to add; Chauncey's hosting the golf tournament and available for interviews after. It will be interesting to see what comes from that.

I've felt that way ever since Lebron sent him scurrying for cover last year.

Hopefully, his locker stuff will be boxed up and waiting for him on the curb outside the Palace when he returns from Beijing.

I can agree with Tay, but on some points can't.

That's exactly what I thought. I hope that Dumars is staying as level-headed as we are!!

Re: Tayshaun backs Chauncey

I don't know what Tay is really saying, but I bet what he's thinking is that he doesn't want to be shipped off to some crap team where's he's watching the playoffs on TV.
