Should we go after Josh Smith?

Atlanta doesn't want to pay Josh Smith more than what there starting offer of 9 million a season.

Should we attempt to jump in and get a sign and trade with the the Hawks?

The Hawks love cheap talent. I would give up Amir, McDyess and next years #1 for Josh Smith. I would even give up Samb if I had to. A front line of Sheed, Josh Smith and Tay looks mighty nice. It makes us more physical up front and the No fly zone is re-established. No more LeBron driving to the lane like he is at a drive in movie. This is an all in move to win next season. The thing is we would still have to go over the cap slighty to give Josh atleast 10 million a year starting. Would Bill D. give the green light? Of course no telling what his team looks like the season after with if Sheed is gone, and no Samb in line if you have to trade him to get Josh Smith, but you worry about that day when it comes.

Re: Should we go after Josh Smith?

To not try and go after Josh Smith would be irresponsible. If Smith signs with us the Hawks will take anything to avoid losing him for nothing. We could get potentially get Smith on the Cheap as long as we convince him the D is the place to be. Do your thing Joe.

Re: Should we go after Josh Smith?

I would acquire Josh Smith, but not for Amir Johnson. For Tayshaun? probably, for Dice, definitely. For Samb? No way in h-e- double hockey sticks.

Re: Should we go after Josh Smith?

Is Dyess a tradeable asset? He may retire before going to a franchise like Atlanta, gotta keep that in mind. Also, in order to get something, you have to give up something. If you want to get a young established player like Josh you have to give up assets, even if it means giving up someone like Amir.

Should we? Hell yeah we should. Is Joe Dumars going to do it? More then likely not.

I would trade for an established talent a guy that is on the verge of stardom any day than hold on to a guy like Amir that might one day be good. In my mind Amir is very much expendable.

I hear Atlanta is interested in Tayshaun. They would like to add a veteran to there mix of kids.

Re: Should we go after Josh Smith?

With Mem being the only team w/cap room, getting Josh Smith via S&T is very plausible if the rumors about him and Coach Woodson are true.

Re: Should we go after Josh Smith?

Another questions is - does he want to come to Detroit?
