Honestly, i'm curious too, but all his teammates love him/want him back. i do remember JJ criticizing him for being immature at one point. It was kind of a general statement which was obviously directed at him, but he's gone on record since then saying getting Josh back is essential to the team (maybe he's thinking from a talent standpoint ?)

If i had to guess, I'd think maybe Woodson wants to play more structured and gets mad b/c Smith has the tendency to be "wild" at times on offense. I don't know, if that is the case might be solved on a team full of veterans ?
Don't you remember McClonksky's much debated article in the Det News about Smith beefing with Woodson (and Tyron Lue?) during a game against the Pistons?

My only question with Smith is if he is a 3 or a 4? Can he guard the 3's in the East like DET would need him too?

Re: Josh Smith Will Be A Piston, (in my opinion)

Smith is a 3 that can guard 4's (i imagine that he has no problems guarding 3's as well). If I recall in a game last year in ATL one of the adjusts the Hawks made after Rasheed lit them up in the 1st quarter was putting Smith on him. His length/athleticism makes whoever hes guarding extremely uncomfortable.

IMO his baggage is irrelevent. He's so damn young and electric it really doesn't matter. As many flaws and mental hiccups he showed against Boston he still beasted them (similar to Dwight Howard and his lack of post moves). Sky's the limit; you give them Tay and whoever/whatever future picks to make it work.

is smith a trouble child that might just think he's better then he is, and will ruin what dumars has built in chemistry here?

I for one would like to know more about what his beef's are down there, theres alot more to building a team then bringing in talent, its go to fit.

ESPN - Warriors want Williams, Miles wants in, Smith wants out - NBA

well that relieves my worries to a point, just a player that doesn't want to work for a coach gets me worried.... i'm on board to go after him now.

For defensive purposes alone he would be a major upgrade, anything on top of that is just an added bonus.

I'd be willing to do J-Max/Prince. Smith's ability to play the 4 negates the depth we'd lose.

I need stop thinking about this. I'm getting my hopes up

Re: Josh Smith Will Be A Piston, (in my opinion)

Josh Smith currently has an offer from the Grizz for $58M/ 5 years ($11.6M/ year)

That means that we could offer the Grizz:

Amir Johnson ($3.7M)
Jason Maxiell ($1.7M)
Rodney Stuckey ($1.0M)
Walter Herrmann ($1.0M?)
Aaron Afflalo ($0.8M)
Cheikh Samb ($0.7M)
Will Bynum ($.7M)
and Sharpe ($.5M)

Total = $10.1M

Maybe we would have to throw in Lindsey Hunter or a couple draft picks.

Get it done Joe!

Re: Josh Smith Will Be A Piston, (in my opinion)

ATL is retarded. Seriously, retarded. I feel so bad for their fans.

edited to add;

if they match, they are less retarded. Actually probably not a bad deal for them, lock him for much less than he should have gotten, but more than they wanted to give him. Now if he's sufficiently angry enough, and doesn't want to play with the Hawks anymore, they could have really hurt themselves.

No way Joe is going to sacrifice even a part of his young talent let alone a whole squad of young talent for Josh Smith. Joe D is especially NOT sacrificing Stuckey for anybody.

Come on! It would be perfect.

Our lineup would be:

Billups
Rip
Josh Smith/ Tay
Dyess
Sheed

Oh... I see what you are saying. We'd have a glut at the small forward position. However, odds are that there will be an injury and Tay can find some PT.
