We could deal T.Prince/Wallace + Amir Jhonson to take Smith. Situation is very bad for the team, our team is one more year veteran, this core canīt win championship, and Zoo Crew with K.Browm,Herman and starters minutes will not have realistic develope minutes.
We will sail like Titanic through regular seasson, the final in play offs will repeat.
I hope Joe sign Smith, our young second unit will have minutes to explote if two guys go(Prince,Amir,Maxi or Sheed) and Pistons project reborn.

Nope, I think the possibility for a S&T is done. Smith signed a contract and if Atlanta matches the offer(which seems likely), Smith cannot be traded for 90 days or December 15th, whichever is later. You can't change things up without a change in personnel, no matter how many "right buttons" Curry pushes and how many right things he says the the media.

But hey, "in Joe we trust," right? Amir better be playing 25 minutes every single night if he doesn't want Josh for him/Tay.

Spurs-
After their disappointing defeat at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks, the Spurs entered the 2006-07 season refreshed with renewed determination, as they felt fatigue played a large role as they failed to win a second straight NBA Title.

Turns out, they were right. They kept their core, and built another ship.

Not exactly the same. The Spurs never failed in their conference 3 times in a row. That Dallas series went RIGHT to the wire; i was actually getting chills.

Right, but they also didn't have the Flipmeister. If he would have been there, they wouldn't have.

What makes you think ATL was ever going to trade Smith in the 1st place ?? Seems like something like this was exactly what they were waiting for . . .

I think it's quite possible to change things without changing personnel. Just look what Flip did to our team.

Re: Josh Smith Will Be A Piston, (in my opinion)

Well even with Larry we were a jump shooting team. He knew we didn't have a team of Iversons that could slash... However he stressed ball movement and was great at exploited weaknesses in the opponent defense. And he never twitched.

in order to be a back to the basket/slashing team, you need guys to do it; a coach can't just simply transform a team that gets 15% of their points in the paint to a team that gets >30%. The closest we have to penetrators are Stuckey (who can't do that from the bench when CB is walking down the floor every possession ) and Tay (has length, although hes too soft for that much body contact, and resorts to being a jumpshooter). Sheed once was a back to the basket player, and Dice only does it when hes being guarded by a SG).

Re: Josh Smith Will Be A Piston, (in my opinion)

I never saw Dyess make a back to the basket shot all year, and he tried to do it much more often than I would have liked. Max is a much much much better back to the basket guy at this point in both of their careers...

I know it is tough because they have a future Hall of Famer like AJ sitting on the bench, but the fact remains that Dyess absolutely carried them and won games for the Pistons in the playoffs. Let's not go kicking dirt on his grave just yet.

Re: Josh Smith Will Be A Piston, (in my opinion)

I don't wanna rag on him but Boston had almost completely left him alone in that Game 4. Those last two crucial games they LOCKED HIM DOWN. It was to the point where he could not get any separation to find an open look. Hes only a spot up guy, and we're gonna need guys that create their own points.
