Think we should still make a big trade?

Now that Boston has lost James Posey, the Celtics may now lack the hunger for a title and an excellent sixth man. Boston will still be a challenge in the playoffs next year, but they simply will not be as good. Philadelphia lacks perimeter shooting. Our chances are looking a whole lot better than they did last year at this time. Do you think we should still make a big trade?

Re: Think we should still make a big trade?

I think the question is not correctly worded. I would ask does he have to make a trade. And my answer would be - he doesn't have to. It would be a good idea if the treade would improve the team. But not a trade for the sake of trade.

ill second that

just trading to make a trade won't help, if joe can improve the team then he should.

No. I think any trade that nets us a great player will cost us too much talent. Let Curry show what he can do with this great team that I love.

GO PISTONS!!!!!

I say make a trade just for the sake of making a trade.

I voted yes. This team needs some new blood. Flip was only part of the problem.

Re: Think we should still make a big trade?

I don't think a BIG trade is necessary. if a big one happens and it doesn't pan out then we will secong guessing Joe for the next 2-3 years...just like we do for the darko draft.

All is needed is a small trade and I prefer one with one of our starters being traded for two whomevers that are hungrier than Dice and can make an immediate impact.... All of those previous "lets-add-one-guy-to come-off-the-bench b/s had failed the last three years notwithstanding Flip...

A huge trade may not be necessary. Maybe trade one starter to bring in two top tier defensive players. One of those players need to be a person who can create their own shot, defensive minded, athletic and a decent character guy.

The other person needs to be a big who is athletic, can play with his back to the basket, above average rebounder and of course a decent locker room presence.

Stop it, stop it......ya killin' me.......OMG my stomach hurts.... AG, you know I love ya like a play-cousin, but tell me what 1 starter we have that can bring in 2 players like that???

The beef I have with the "We need a trade" crowd is that everybody seems a little jaded. Big, athletic, back to the basket, above avg rebounding, good character.......I didn't know Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson and Tim Duncan were available. A trade is needed, this group really has a Complaceny Cancer within it that needs Chemo (sp?) But the trade is oing to involve gambling and giving up a SURE thing (Sheed/Tay/Billups) for the unsure, young SF, Stuckey at PG, etc We're going to have to let go of our security blanket folks.

Any trade involving only 1 of our starters qualifies as a 'big trade' to me. The 1 for 2 idea sounds good, but most 'hungries' are either: 1) established players with good contracts looking for a chance to play for a contender, or 2) young guys with at least 1 productive year, but are hidden behind a starter and won't be traded because of their talent and restricted free agency. The odds of getting 2 'hungry' guys for the price of 1 starter are slim.

I agree on this completely.
