Walter Sharpe: No D-League Time

Walter Sharpe, the newest team member aka rookie of the team, will not have be joining a D-League team at all. According to detroitbadboys.com, Mike Curry feels that Walt needs a whole year under watch of the coaching staff. He feels that Walt needs structure and stability before jumping on a plane to different environment. He feels that Mr. Samb will benefit from the D-League than Walt.
Look at our new head coach making great decisions.

Here's the link: No D-League for Walter Sharpe | Detroit Bad Boys

I feel that he (Walt aka Wallzie...that's what I call him) needs that as well instead jumping into a different situation and following someone else's rules and guidelines rather than his direct team that he's player for.

He's too fragile to deal with the D League? What ever happened to Pistons DNA?

Wait does that mean Cheikh Samb is going to be stuck on the D-League all season? I really want to see him play. Don't we have to develop a real center sometime soon? All that weight Samb put on and he looked pretty good in the summer league games I saw. Shoot. Why did we get Samb if we aren't going to see him for three or four years?

i guessing that but i'm not pretty sure. i feel the same as you. i think its simply ridiculous that he's on the roster if he's not going play. he has skill. yeah he definitely needs weight before he can grind for a 82 game season

It doesn't matter to me whether Sharpe is too fragile to deal with the D-League. Maybe he is. If the Pistons have to hire a full-time babysitter for him to become a useful member of the team I'm all for it. I'm sure they knew what they were getting into when they drafted him.

I hope this means they really plan to use him. If he's physically ready, I'd like to see him play.

Re: Walter Sharpe: No D-League Time

I don't have a link, but there are rumors that both Sharpe and the Pistons don't want him to play in the D League because they worry he'll crumble under the pressure of having to follow in Amir's footsteps as one of the greatest D League players ever.

He's not too fragile for the D League. He will school those cats down there. Have you watched any games with him in the 08 Vegas Summer Camp or when he was in college?? He was schooling dudes that were "lottery picks/Holy Grails of 08 NBA Draft" in the 08 Vegas Summer Camp. Come on you gotta pay attention!
