In sports, I see more flops than stars...Just too many who don't make it.

Re: Predict Amir's Future?

Although I love Amir...hint my name....I feel that he'll be a solid bench player. The only way he becomes a solid starter is if he bulks up and get a little more complete on the block. He plays like Ben Wallace (not as great...yet) meaning that he really doesn't matter if he's an all-star or a super star. He has that mentality already at 21.

Peanut and Flamin' Hot Cheetos vendor

but really he still has to show us a lot if he wants to stay a rotation player, in particularly in between the ears. he does have the right attitude though.

your right but we don't always see what he does in practice/training camp

Pistons assistant Dave Cowens, on Amir Johnson:
"This guy does a lot of things you can't coach. But he doesn't do a lot of things, you can coach."....mlive.com/pistons

i can't wait when he really gets a chance to shine!

Re: Predict Amir's Future?

I say solid bench player like John Salley or Jerome Williams at best. So far, he's only shown that he's a great athlete who's still learning the NBA game.

He'll be better than that if he develops one or more of these:
1. A consistent outside shot
2. A strong go-to move in the post
3. Ability to take his man off the dribble and draw fouls

The obvious solution here is better coaching then.

I completely agree with the JYD comparison. I see him as JYD without the strength but with a nice baby hook

I'm not trying to put Amir down, but here's why I'm not buying what Big Dave's selling:

I've heard Joe D say the same thing about Delfino, Darko and Cleaves. They've got "something you can't coach" and they have "intangibles" you can't teach. I have no doubt that Dave's simply towing the party line.

Now, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. If Joe D and Cowens get too specific, it might come back to bite them. But unless they're telling me something very specific about Amir's strengths and weaknesses, it's blah blah blah.
