Both Milicic and Varejeo are more lumbering than Amir, so he should be able to improve at least as much as they did.

And the bottom line is that if you instructed Amir to go out on the floor and not commit a single foul, he could do that, it's just that he wouldn't do anything positive either. So it is an optimization problem. The only ways to get him to lower his fouls in a good way without taking away his aggression is to let him gain experience and to coach him.

Breaking down game film with him after games and analyzing situations might be the way to go. Show him examples of situations that he should avoid and show him fouls that he committed that were OK. If Lee's basement wasn't so far from the Palace, he could just swing over there after each home game.

But seriously, I am assuming they already do these kinds of things with Amir, it just takes time for it all to sink in.

I'm confident that lee is already working with Amir which is clearly reflected in his recent success on the court. I look for Amir to start hitting half-court shots on the regular in the coming weeks.

If a big can't defend and he isn't part of the O flow, what good is he ?
May as well use a small reliable shooter to out score with.
It's not like he is breaking knuckles.
