Michael Curry: Richard Hamilton, Allen Iverson both to start tonight vs. Charlotte Bobcats

The biggest question facing Detroit Pistons coach Michael Curry has been about how he would handle Richard Hamilton's return to action.
Would Hamilton keep his pre-injury spot in the starting lineup? Or would Allen Iverson keep starting alongside Rodney Stuckey?
Well, contrary to recent speculation, it's going to be both, Curry said at practice today. At least for now.
Hamilton, who has been sidelined for eight games due to a partial groin tear, will finally be back on the floor tonight for the 7:30 p.m. tip against the Charlotte Bobcats, who are led by former Pistons coach Larry Brown.
Because of comments made by Hamilton to the Detroit media that he was unwilling to come off of the bench, many saw the shooting guard's return as a potential land mine for the Pistons and the continuity they achieved during their recently snapped seven-game winning streak.

I want to puke.

1. At this point, I don't care who comes off the bench, I wanted Curry to show the stones to demand it.

2. Small ball. Who will be the big? Sheed limping around out there without any help?

This is sick.

Hamilton, Iverson to start for Pistons | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Quote:
"We want our best players on the court as much as possible," Curry said. "But for 32 minutes (of a game's 48 minutes) we need to be big. A lot of nights Alan or Rip will be subbed kind of early but they'll come back at the start of the second quarter with (Will) Bynum or Stuckey."
Curry said he wants to reduce Prince's minutes at the power forward spot, and incorporate Bynum to limit Stuckey's minutes at point guard.
Both Hamilton, who did not speak with the media after Tuesday's shootaround, and Iverson have been hesitant about a bench role.
"I don't expect those guys to want to come off the bench, but if we're at the point we need to do that, we will," Curry said.
Said Iverson: "You always are supposed to do what the coach asks you to do. I'm not trying to be a distraction. Obviously, it would be difficult for me. It's something I've never done in my career. It would be different. We'll see what happens. That's something I've never faced in my career, back to when I was a little kid. That's something I've never been through in my life."

Well, at least Amir fouling out in 8 minutes will help the best players be on the court as much as possible. Now if we could get a guard other than Stuckey to commit a foul every 2 minutes, all of our lineup problems would be solved.

Btw, this is like Curry stomping on my face over and over again.

Re: AI, Hamilton both to start

So, 16 minutes of SB, 32 of big ball?

It could work. Our 1st quarters really haven't been the problem this year, even when we were going small. Those guys typically got off to a good start and then got pummelled in the 2nd half, maybe due to fatigue or maybe the other teams adjusted properly. We'll see how it goes. We shouldn't judge it too early because Rip and Sheed will surely still be less than 100%.

And bringing Amir off the bench isn't the worst thing. Maybe it will take some of the ref focus off him and let him get away with more.

Decreasing Tay's minutes and decreasing Stuck's minutes are both good ideas.

Re: AI, Hamilton both to start

Listen folks....

Forget about smallball. That really doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

So Curry plays smallball on the 13th of January. Who cares?

It's the potential Kowtowing to Richard Hamilton's demands that resonates deeply with me right now.

Even if he just did it for one or two games.

I would have put his butt on the bench just to show him what's what. Given Rip's reaction to the situation I thought this was a necessary move.

This is such a cop out.

I am worried that 6 months from now we will be pointing to this moment in time as the tipping point in the team's eventual collapse.

He just pulled a Flip.

Re: AI, Hamilton both to start

Does any other team start the game with two three players playing out of their natural positions?

Yes, yes, and yes again.

I'm fairly depressed now.
