Rip Hamilton to come off the bench

Quote:
If a switch is in store, the sneak peek is favorable On the day the world’s most powerful office changes occupants, a transition of another sort appears ready to take place: Michael Curry gave every indication before Monday’s win over Memphis to snap their five-game losing streak that the Pistons are returning to their big lineup, likely meaning either Rip Hamilton or Allen Iverson is headed to the bench.
If Curry’s substitution pattern meant anything – and it might not – then Hamilton is probably the better guess. When it was time to go big midway through the first quarter, Kwame Brown came on for Hamilton.
That allowed Curry to bring Hamilton back to start the second quarter – and when Stuckey and Iverson soon exited for their first rests of the game, Hamilton was on the floor along with four reserves: Will Bynum, Arron Afflalo, Jason Maxiell and Antonio McDyess. He promptly knocked down six consecutive shots after going 0 for 1 in the first quarter while playing small forward and matched Iverson’s 12 first-quarter points with 12 of his own in the second.

PISTONS: True Blue Pistons

Hamilton becomes sixth man; lineup change is permanent

WOOHOO, The end of SB

Here are the nuts and bolts and ramifications of the move:
- Amir Johnson, who didn’t play in Monday’s win at Memphis, will be the starter alongside Rasheed Wallace most nights. But against really big teams – Curry cited the Lakers, with 7-footers Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol – Kwame Brown will be the starter.

- Hamilton will anchor a second unit that will include Antonio McDyess and Jason Maxiell at the power positions with Will Bynum at point guard.

- It’s not an experiment. “This is for the rest of the season,” Curry said.

Re: Rip Hamilton to come off the bench

Sounds good. A difficult decision has finally been made. Hallelujah.

My only question:
Does WB at PG and Rip at SG means that AA = DNP or does he play SF as a member of bench small ball? In other words, is SB dead, or has it just gone to the bench?

Interesting. Maybe a precursor to a trade.

yea no mention of what there going to do about prince's backup.... thats a major issue too...

still would prefer AI getting the backup PG mins and AA getting the scrapes of the guard mins not bynum.

Re: Rip Hamilton to come off the bench

Straight dope.

Rip just got demoted by the ascension of Stuckey and the AI trade.

for the rest of the season

If Rip handles this like a big boy, it could make us a lot better.

Until a trade is made will AA go back to playing the closing seconds of quarters?

There just aren't any minutes for him.

Re: Rip Hamilton to come off the bench

I do not believe it 'til I see it. And I did not talk about UFO's

I have every right to remain sceptical: we have heard many promises from MC before the season and those turned to be rather empty.

read this stuff and by all accounts it is still higely likely that we'll see lots of small balling during usually crucial 4th quarter.

Re: Rip Hamilton to come off the bench

They need to figure out this AJ starting thing also. They probably have played their best with him starting, but those games have been against doormats for the most part.

I still prefer Kwame to start, but that would present a different set of problems. I just don't see AJ matching up against the elite teams of the league. His size makes him ideal for a bench player.
