Based upon the fire Flip Saunders one year early rationale, that if they aren't going to renew him, why bring him back, does that mean that Joe intends to sign Curry to an extension after next year, if he doesn't terminate his contract in a month or so?

i think he does one or the other this summer, he'll give him an extension to show he's behind him to the players.... or he'll let him go, and I have no clue which way joe will go.
Man that's going to be rough if he gets an extension. I doubt it though. This team underachieved so much. Why reward him for that. I could see going with Curry another year though, sadly.
It has to be one or the other. To bring him back without an extension would bring out the bestgreatest effortmost consistency least effort in our players.

Doesn't Curry have a 3 year deal? That would mean the Flip rationale would only kick in after next season.
Curry needs to go. We have ample HC potential waiting in the wings. All he needed to do was provide accountability and demand effort. He did neither effectively. You can forgive (well maybe you can't but I could I suppose) lame play calling, poor time out timing, and generally bad game strategies as he's learning. But he was brought in to get 100% effort 100% of the time.
