| So, after reading the articles from our resident expert, JDMISER, on the ends and outs of fantasy basketball srategy do you find yourself itching to get the season started? If your answer is Hell Yeahhhhhh, then you've come to the right spot. ![]() The league will be divided into two divisions, beginner and expert. As commissioner of the expert league I am excited to match basketball wits with some of the best and brightest that Pistons Forum.Com has to offer. Microwave will be calling the shots in the league slated for beginners. Here's just a couple of specifics about our league: - We will be using the Yahoo Fantasy Basketball site for our league this year. This is great because if you have an NBA TV package you can catch the Fantasy Basketball show based on Yahoo player ratings nightly. I think everyone will find the interface quite user friendly. It literally only takes a couple of minutes to get fully acclimated with the site unlike other fantasty basketball engines.- Each league will have 10-12 players - We will be using the Yahoo autodraft feature where the players are selected based on a pre-draft selection list defined by each owner in advance. - The format of the fantasy basketball league will be Head 2 Head - There will be a playoffs - Trades will be reviewed by league vote - There will be a maximum of 100 waiver/free agency moves per owner - Lineups may be modified daily Unfamiliar with fantasy basketball or need a refresher course on the rules? Follow this link so you are ready for our first inaugural season: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/hoops/...prules-01.html Invitations will be sent out shortly based on who has signed up thus far. Once every owner has joined the league there will be an announcement as to when the draft will be initiated. At this time you will need to make sure you have already prepared your pre-draft selection list. I will be more than happy to field any questions. See you on the battle field!

| Line-up changes Wow, I just read the rules for posted for the expert league. Somehow it did not come across to me before that the league would have daily line-up changes. I would much prefer to have weekly changes if possible. I asked to be in the advanced league with the expectation of high quality of competition. I don't think that I have the time committment to make daily changes, though. Is this something we can debate? Are you considering having the novice league involve weekly line-up changes? If so, I might want to consider switching (perhaps someone would switch with me, if this is the case). Whatever happens, I am happily committed to playing, and I don't want leave an odd number of players, by pulling out at this point. If everyone in expert wants daily changes, and no one wants to switch, I'll suck it up. I'm just pretty sure I'll be at a pretty good competetive disadvantage. What do people in the expert bracket think? |

Don't fret. ** You can set your lineups more than two weeks in advance **. The ability to change daily simply allows one to sub a player out if a player gets injured or if there is some other factor in the game that might inspire you to change your lineup at the last second. I can't think of any reason why one wouldn't want that flexibility. This way you are not stuck the entire week playing against someone short handed. There really is not a distinct advantage. Even if it was, its this attention to detail that makes the game more strategic versus a game of chance. Besides, most of the expert players log on to PF.com daily anyway. To make a lineup change takes less than 5 minutes. I think you will be fine.

| Time commitment I have never participated in any kind of fantasy sports, and am concerned about the amount of time it may take to be competitive. As mentioned earlier, I usually do check in here every day, so it might not be too big of a problem. Will it cause any problems with the league if I can't make changes or participate for a week at a time? I have some pretty serious work/school commitments that have to come first, and I would hate to take up a roster spotat the expense of someone who can make more of a commitment. |

To anyone concerned with roster changes, keep in mind that you can set your rosters (by day if you want to micromanage) well in advance. If you need to, you can pop into Yahoo, swap a player out of your starting lineup and logout in generally less than 3 minutes. It's really that simple.

| Just so the beginners know, you can get something called "stat tracker" through yahoo. I have it in my football league and it makes it much more fun. Basically, you can get up to the minute updates on your own player's progress (and every other player in the league)and stats in a particular game. If I'm wrong and it works differently than football, someone please correct me. I know the football one costs #9.99 for the entire year, but I though I saw somewhere that the basketball one is only $7.99. You get it through your credit card. I highly recommend you get it if you are like me and don't want to wait until the game is over to find out what happened. It's well worth it.
