Re: 2008-2009 Advanced League Draft Analysis

Always a pleasure to be in a league with you bro. A+ analysis.

My actual strategy based on my draft position was to:
  • take the best available (beginning of draft was center and PG heavy, so I grabbed a bunch of high profile forwards and shooting guards)
  • draft big men late since I knew there would be alot of PF, C sleepers in the late rounds
  • grab some rookies/sophs as they typically have the highest upside

Great analysis Hog..

T-mac was a reach, but remember I won last year with six core players> Labron, T-Mac, Baron Davis, Kaman, R Jefferson and everyone's whipping boy Zach Robinson. I have retained three of those guys and will give them their rings tonight.......and hope that we can get to the finals again for the third straight year...I might even attempt a trade for at least one of those former players so Freudian let me know who you want.....

Re: 2008-2009 Advanced League Draft Analysis

Always creative, insightful, and witty Wart. Good stuff.

Yeah, I took the blind approach. I didn't have a star player to build around. Basically, with the fourteenth pick I got what amounted to a mid second rounder in a ten team draft. Billups was the top rated guy there.

I grabbed Calderon because I figured I could at least win assists with those two guys.

Those are the breaks. I suck at drafting anyhow.

Re: 2008-2009 Advanced League Draft Analysis

i hardly even looked at your team tater, i just had to razz on ya somehow i thought roy was the biggest reach simply because i think you could've snagged him later and gotten more of a sure thing at 26, and it might take awhile before he settles in at portland with so many new players. dre, who is zach robinson? i actually think t-mac might be a little underrated this year, and pick 57 might've been a reach, but then again you didn't pick again until 84 and he probably would've been gone by then.

my fear was that i'd be without a pg by the time i got to my 4th pick... I knew who i wanted at 2 and 3 and felt my 3 would for sure be there but was nervous about them at 2....

as is... i am still pretty weak at PG..... so we'll see how the other postions come thru with assists...

On paper I'll take my team against any team in a game, whether that plays out into wins and loses in fantasy is to be seen.

Re: 2008-2009 Advanced League Draft Analysis

Great analysis Wart.

I always want to be strong in rebounding, FG%, FT%, and assists. Those are my foundation.
I think my team will do well if I don't have any injuries.

Re: 2008-2009 Advanced League Draft Analysis

lol Thanks Hog! Yeah...I have a lot of sleepers. Injuries and PT factored into most of my picks. Screwing up my que accounted for others
