| Re: At Charlotte January 24th, 7:00PM I'm going to throw out some defensive stats here. FG% allowed is a great way to eliminate tempo from the equation and see who plays the best D. The best way is to take points per possession allowed, but I can't find that right now. In FG% allowed, here are the top 10 teams: 1) Houston (Yao/Mutumbo/Battier) 2) Orlando (Twin towers/ Ariza) 3) Chicago (Big Ben/ Coach Skiles) 4) Detroit (Sheed/Tay/Rip/CB...) 5) New Jersey (Kidd) 6) Utah (Coach Sloan/ Kirilenko/ Boozer) 7) San Antonio (Duncan/ Pop) 8) Cleveland (Big Z) 9) New Orleans (Chandler) 10) Dallas (Avery) 11) Phoenix (Stoudamire/ Marion) So, we are the best defensive team without a Center. We still got it. Other surprising stats: We own the best differential between shots blocked (#1) and getting our shots blocked (#3). We are almost the best on both sides of the equation. That is a testament to us blocking shots from every position; Sheed (63 blocks), Naz (37), Tay (29), Davis (27), Dice (24), JMax (21), Rip (12), CB (11), Flip (7), and Delf (4). This is better than a team with a dominant blocker, because they won't be able to adjust their game play to avoid all of our guys in the playoffs. And the only 2 teams that get blocked less than us are Phoenix and Dallas. We don't play the same style as them, so I think it reflects the bball IQ of our players. They have a good feel for when they shouldn't force a shot.

| Re: At Charlotte January 24th, 7:00PM Quick microcap 103-92 Pistons. Nice road win, gutted out in the 4th Q with some timely baskets from Rasheed Wallace. The Bobcats were tough all night and kept it very close heading deep into the 3rd period. All 5 Pistons starters in double digits, but the minutes were too high and came at the expense of the Pistons bench. To Coach Flip Saunders' credit, he did rotate 10 men. Both Nasty Nazr and Nasty Flip both did not play, nor did Will Blalock, Amir Johnson or Ronald Dupree (the last three were inactive). Not surprisingly the Pistons were beaten on the boards, but they recovered possessions by creating a WHACK load of turnovers. 11 Steals by the Pistons matched the 11 total turnovers the Pistons made. CWebb is very smooth passing the ball. We are all very happy about that. I'm really liking the way he carries himself and is becoming a part of this team, even laughing it up and smiling on the bench. Pistons shoot 52%, with CWebb and Sheed both being incredibly efficient. The two starting PFs went a combined 14 for 18 from the field, and 9 of 11 from the charity stripe. As an aside, Gerald Wallace was an absolute BEAST in this game. He was everywhere, capitalizing on turnovers, lobs, rebounds etc. If that guy could stay healthy, he would be an All-Star. Bring on Agent Zero, the Hibachi master. |

| Re: At Charlotte January 24th, 7:00PM Nice win by the boyz in blue. signing of Cwebb is paying dividends >3-1 so far and the loss was without CB. All five starters get in double figures. I think CWebb may be reenergizing Sheed. Tay struggled but hit a key 3 down the stretch. In fact even with the Bobcats in the penalty from the 10 minute mark, the Pistons were able to stretch the six pt 3rd qtr lead and eventually pull away without giving up a bunch a points at the FT line. The bench didn't do that much, but they did hold their own while the starters rested with Hunter dropping in 6 pts and D Davis returning score two buckets. Real test of extending the win streak will be vs the washington pretenders on Friday.

| Re: At Charlotte January 24th, 7:00PM Nice win on the road. Can't wait for these guys to get used to C-Webb's passing. I haven't been able to catch to many games on T.V. and haven't seen CW play in awhile he is really good at finding the open cutter. Sheed finally woke up in the second half,if those two keep clicking like this game and we get rid of some dead wood for a legit backup pg this will get interesting coming up into the playoff push. |
