Re: Washington January 26th, 7:00PM

My wife came home after the loss. I told her that we were down 1 point with 15 seconds and to guess what happened. She replied, "They shot a three and had Sheed take it?"

3rd time this year that has happened.

Sheed had success in the post. Rip just hit a nice touchy jumper. Chauncey got fouled twice in a row driving to the hoop and was on fire from 3-point land. Having Sheed shoot the 3 was the last thing we should have done. That is just stupid. I don't care if he hits it.

Flip's fault for calling the play. Chauncey's fault for facilitating it. Sheed's fault for pulling the trigger.

Re: Washington January 26th, 7:00PM

I was only able to watch from the last 4 minutes of the 3rd Q on, but what I did see, I wasn't very impressed with. Here are a few of my thoughts.

last 4 minutes of the 3rd Q
- the team can't get anything to drop - including FTs
- Haywood made Sheed look BAD on his up and under slam. Pathetic effort on that one. It looked like he was expecting Ben to come back and bail him out
- poor executing on a 3-on-1 break
- no inside game whatsoever
- no hustle/late help on D allows easy buckets for the Wiz and an offensive rebound and buzzer beater to end the 3rd

4th Q
- nice steal by Dice early in the Q
- the lack of hustle on D hurts them again with a WAY too easy uncontested layup
- it looks like the entire TEAM is waiting for Ben to come back and bail them out
- another botched 3-on-1
- Delfino hit back to back long jumpers (both from the same spot), the 2nd of which forced a Wiz timeout
- Rip looks out of control and forces a 1 on 3, comes down awkwardly and is slow to get up after the play
- more costly missed FTs
- poor positioning/not boxing out on D results in yet another O rebound plus an and 1
- whats wrong with this picture: our SF is consistenly backing his man down, attacking the basket while our PF/C is consistently standing behind the 3pt line?
- too many cheap fouls on D result in WAY too many and 1s
- most of our offense has been started by Tay backing down his man and then kicking it out
- Nice to see JMax in the game on D for Webber in the final minute
- Wow, I don't know what the play was for the final possession, but I do know that the execution was horrible. Sheed passed up a fairly open 3 (considering they needed a 3 to tie and it was the last play), Tay mishandles it, then Sheed is forced to take a much more difficult shot than the original one he passed up.

I've got to think that the play wasn't drawn up that way, only because Sheed passed up an open look when he first got the ball and only ended up shooting it out of desperation at the end.

I might be wrong though. Either way, it was a bad, bad play.

I'm not concerned with the last play when we actually needed a three. I can't believe that we actually think we need a 3 when we are down 1.

Just don't give the ball to Sheed at the end if you don't want him to shoot it... cause you know it's going up. What happened to the bball IQ I've heard so much about. And if you look at the replay, you can see Webber trying to call a timeout when Sheed's shot was in the air.

If you look at the box score, it was a very strange night.

Chauncey led the team in rebounding, but they all had about the same number.
Every starter had 4 or 5 assists.

Webber seems to be causing ball movement.

And on a positive note, I thought Dyess was playing some aggressive interior bball.

Chauncey was wide open in the corner, too. D collapsed on Sheed. Not a good finish after a decent offensive output in the 4th Q. And what's with Jamison going off like that? Throw some body on the guy (Maxiell).

Re: Washington January 26th, 7:00PM

Cant remember the last time i watched a pistons game live so this was a treat for me. I headed down to the nearest sports club to catch the action but too bad for me the audio wasnt working. The thing that stood out for me was jameson on fire... the whole game. Like many have posted why couldnt they get someone on him so he couldnt ride the hot hand? Rebounding was a positive, also was rip getting free for open looks. Cbill seemed to only get in the game after the first half which was dissapointing cause we could have used his points and assists. Dreadful dry spell in the 3rd which cost us the game. Cant expect us to rally like we did and pull out a victory if we dig ourselves a hole like that.

Luckily redemption is not far away. Bring it on. As a matter of fact bring on DD and let Cwebb rest a little more.

Re: Washington January 26th, 7:00PM

C'mon you had to see this coming. We couldn't get anything going on offense, we then go to this play that gets Tay a post up with options. This play works 8 times in a row. Now the team starts putting points on the board. Problem.......All our points came from long range jumpers The epitome of fools gold for this team. You had to know that one missed trey would yield a loss. Here's why we lost, Wash is a team that with the personnel to make plays, we are a team with the personnel to EXECUTE plays. We don't have Gilbert Arenas on our team, or a T-Mac, Kobe etc etc.....This team needs to execute, share the ball, move the ball weakside and make the extra pass. Flips system puts too much pressure on one indvidual to make a play (which none of our guys are good enough to do) instead of a team excuting plays and making the defense cover all five guys across the whole court. I'll be sooooooo happy when we come down court 3 times in a row and the ball moves from one side of the court to the other, the ball touches at least 4 players and we make the extra pass that leads to points in the PAINT!!!!!

On a lighter note, Eli Zaret was trying to pimp the postgame sponsor (Casino Windsor) and at one point referred to the sponsor as Cas-een-er Wind-Sow and then during the postgame, called the Wizards, "the Washington Windsors".

This is not the kind of publicity my hometown needs.
