They lost to Ohio State by 3 points in the final game of the season last year. The teams were ranked #1 and #2.

The game before that, they dominated the #2 Notre Dame team.

That is pretty close.

In 2005, they were the only team to beat Penn State.

In 2004, they lost the Rose Bowl on a last second FG to Vince Young's team (38-37).

Lloyd Carr has won/ shared 5 Big Ten titles in 12 years.
The most conference games he has ever lost in a season is 3.

The thing about Lloyd is, he has won. A guy who has never won anything is easy to pick apart. The old, "show me" argument. But Lloyd has shown us. He's also been a consistent winner, if not a consistent champion.

I'm sure 95% of teams in Div 1 would be happy to have this guy at the helm. A similar case cannot be made for Col. "KFC" Saunders.

If Gary Moeller could have behaved himself Lloyd Carr might never have had the chance. I always liked Moeller.

I agree. I really liked Moeller. Dude had guts. Carr is only a winner because he coaches at Michigan, which has had a history of bringing in good recruits. I doubt he could build a program from the ground up.

Re: Lloyd Carr, the Ultimate Mr. Vanilla, Keeping those Expectations Low

Michigan has had only 11 losing seasons in their 125 year history. They have the most Division 1A victories of all time and also have the highest winning percent of all time..........something like .745......A Michigan coach DOESN'T have to rebuild...........they just RELOAD.......... GO BLUE !!!!!
