Re: Spurs loss?

Com'mon BSA, the Spurs went down in 7 but in no way disgraceful. And to a fine team. I hate Dallas teams too. Actually I hate all Texas teams. Spurs showed way more heart and togetherness than the supposed tightest 5 in the NBA. It was a 6 game sweep. Sad!

Re: Spur Talk

Hey, guess what? I have suddenly started feeling so good about what next season might bring for both of us. Actually, I havent felt that until just now. For one thing, we know Heat wont win again...it's just too hard to win a back to back ship, especially if you're not a hot team. The other thing, IMO, is that our teams are going to be "different", don't quite know how, but they will be different and surprising.

A lot is going to happen in summer camps and other folks will take notice. I dont think anyone has written off a Piston/Spurs rematch if they know anything at all about the stamina of these teams. They each have the core and not that much rebuilding to do. They have to figure out how they can play the NEW NBA with their OLD championship ways.

GO PISTONS/GO SPURS

Re: Spur Talk

In case anyone thinks I might be over-optimistic, here is Bruce Bowen's take on Nazr going to Pistons: Oh Noooo, anywhere but Detroit!!!

Bruce knows Pistons are the team to beat, and he knows Nazr will be a big help to the team. Yep, you guys didnt get a pig in the poke, you got a real contributor.

Reckon we're all set...

Yep, havent given a restricted free agent an offer sheet since failing to land Tyrone Nesby in 1999, now we did 2 at the same time. Johnny Ludden SA ExpNews comments on Spurs roster (excerpt):

"It's very difficult to walk away from guys like Nazr and Rasho when you've had a great deal of success during their time here in San Antonio," Buford said. "But I think one of Pop's strengths was looking at all areas of the franchise and figuring out not only what's best today, but what also provides the best opportunity for long-term success."
The Spurs hope Elson, Butler, Bonner and the rest of their additions will contribute enough to keep them contending for a championship the next two years. Then, the franchise will have significant room under the salary cap to remake the roster when only Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili will be under contract.
If Elson and Butler succeed, the Spurs will be hailed, once again, for being fiscally prudent. If Elson and Butler flat-line and Mohammed thrives in Detroit?
"Prudent" could be construed as a synonym for "cheap."
At the least, the Spurs think their roster has become more versatile.

So, folks, we got a lot to look forward to for both of our teams. Pistons and Spurs have tweaked their teams enough to make the subtle changes that became obvious as the finals played out. Nothing drastic, no over-reaction, just making the best moves with what was out there.

Still looking for the Spurs/Pistons rematch, when you all can come down and I'll buy some margaritas on the dirty river

Re: Spur Talk

Barbara....any reaction to the allegations made by Ron Artest of poor treatment of opposing players by Spurs officials?

Nearly three months after the Spurs won the series in six games, the Kings' small forward said San Antonio's home-court advantage went beyond the court. He said the AT&T Center's visitors' locker room reeked with gas before the Spurs' Game 5 victory, and that the hotel experience at two facilities didn't do much for relaxation and preparation throughout the series.

Wake-up calls in hotel rooms, Artest said, routinely came hours early for numerous players. And room service, he also said, would take several hours to arrive.
