Re: Rebraca waived

Another ghost of the Pistons' past bites the dust.

Re: Rebraca waived

Maybe we can sign him up to be our Shaq stopper in the ECF this year.

I was going to point out that it's already past the March 1 deadline for a player to be waived and still be eligible for the playoffs with another team. However, this column implies that there is an exception for players who have not appeared in any games.
Quote:
UP NEXT: The next major personnel date is the March 1 waiver deadline. Players who have appeared in NBA games this season must be waived by that date in order to retain playoff eligibility for another team. It does not matter when the player signs.
Acccording to the original article,
Quote:
Rebraca did not play a game for the Clippers in 2006-07, as he was sidelined the entire season due to disc-related lower back discomfort since a training camp physical discovered the injury on Sept. 25, 2006. Rebraca underwent surgery on his lower back to remove herniated disc fragments on Jan. 30, 2007.
Not that I'm saying this is a good idea.

If he can play at all, he would be better than carrying Dupree on the roster, who is pretty much of no conceivable help.

Lee, you undervalue the importance of a *sharp* dresser.

Re: Rebraca waived

On a almost completely unrelated note:
Quote:
Lakers guard Smush Parker lashed out at Coach Phil Jackson on Thursday after being benched for the entire fourth quarter of Wednesday night's 90-82 loss to the Clippers. Jackson said he thought Parker looked fatigued and was not applying sufficient defensive pressure.

Asked whether he would be ready to play in tonight's game against the SuperSonics in Seattle, Parker said, "I was ready to play [Wednesday] night. I wanted to play [Wednesday] night. I didn't appreciate being benched."

Facing reporters at the team's El Segundo training facility after practice and before heading to the airport for the team's flight to Seattle, Parker was asked what he thought he had to do to get back on the court.

"I feel fine. I felt I did everything I need to do to be out there. I gave up trying to read that man a long time ago," he said, referring to Jackson.

[...]

"It just didn't feel like he had the enthusiasm to get up there and press the ball and do the kind of things Shammond [Williams] and Jordan [Farmar] and Sasha [Vujacic] would do," he said of Parker, who "has been fatigued a little bit, so we're just watching it."

[...]

This isn't the first time Jackson and Parker have clashed. Last month, Jackson took Parker out of a game against the Phoenix Suns late in the fourth quarter because Parker was struggling offensively and defensively. The two had words, and Parker spent the rest of the game pouting at the end of the bench.

It's not unheard of for players to clash with Phil Jackson, but Smush might just be the worst full-time starter in the NBA and is running out of contract.

Re: Rebraca waived

Rather have Ronald Murray than Smush Parker. That's all I have to add.
