• Houston G Bonzi Wells did not accompany the team to Seattle. Coach Jeff Van Gundy said he was unsure of Wells' whereabouts and several Rockets employees said they believe the disgruntled swingman will be released from the team.

If this happens maybe Joe would take a flyer on him for the playof drive.

It would be too late to add him to this year's playoff roster, but if Joe is really interested in him, would he be able to sign him to a contract that extended past the end of this season (for example, the remainder of this season and next)?

That would give him a chance to get comfortable with the players, coaches and system well ahead of next season's free agency period. It also might allow Joe D to sneak him away before the majority of the other teams are even thinking about next season.

Just a thought. Not sure if it would work though, or even if Joe or Bonzi would be interested.
