Hill to sign with Phoenix after agreeing to deal

The overhaul of the Orlando Magic continued Thursday with veteran Grant Hill, who fell short of expectations in seven injury-marred seasons with the franchise, deciding to sign with the Phoenix Suns.
Hill's agent, Lon Babby, told ESPN.com's Chad Ford on Thursday that Hill has agreed in principle to a two-year deal -- known as a bi-annual exception -- for $1.8 million this season and almost $2 million in 2008-09 at the player's option. Teams can offer $1.2 million as the mid-level exception for veterans, but can offer the bigger $1.8 million bi-annually.

Re: Hill Goes to The Valley of The Sun

Hill wants his shot at a "ship" and didn't see any posibility with the Pistons. Probably got advise from Darko on wether or not he should sign in Detroit....................

I give him fifty-six possessions before he breaks his hip.

I thought about posting this over here, but since the Pistons were seriously considering Hill and whether he would sign with the Pistons or not was discussed under the Pistons thread, it seemed to me that his not-signing with Pistons belonged under the Piston thread, since it will impact Pistons free agent signings this summer.

Not a problem, but we've already got Hill speculation threads in the Pistons forum. Since we have no shot at this guy, I imagine the discussion will trend towards how his career plays out in PHX.

It is no loss as far as I am concerned because I have serious doubts about his ability to play decent defense at this point in this career.

That is why Murray is being replaced by AA, because AA can play one on one defense and Murray is in the Smush league when it comes to playing defense, i.e.; occasionally makes an exciting steal or two but other than that is a first class Matador.

Re: Hill Goes to The Valley of The Sun

With Hill going out west, it's clear that he thinks that the Suns have a better chance to get a ring than any team in the east...only Kobe has the right mindset knowing that going to a team in the east means a better shot at getting to the finals.

We still need another vet to go with our existing underahievers and new rookies. I don't think we can get back to the ECF with what we got. Who's next on the FA totem pole for Joe to seek out?

Re: Hill Goes to The Valley of The Sun

Will Hill be nailed to the pine like Jalen Rose? Or will he see limited PT next year?

I am wondering how effective Grant would be at this stage in his career in the Suns system.

Grant Hill A Sun

Agreed to terms with PHX. Two year bi-annul exception contract, 1.8 million first year, 2 million player option the second year. Love this cause now we have the full MLE if necessary to sign Amir and a some more bench guys.
