Marion asking Suns for trade

FOX Sports on MSN - NBA - Marion asking Suns for trade

Quote:
Shawn Marion is sick of the trade rumors. So now he's making a trade request.

The forward told the Arizona Republic he wants out, saying "I'm tired of hearing my name in trades. I love my fans in Phoenix but I think it's time for me to move on."

There have been rumors swirling of a trade to the Jazz or the Lakers, while Marion has pushed the team for an extension of his current deal. He is the team's highest-paid player, due $16.4 million for this year and $17.8 million next.
He's said to have been seeking a three-year extension at $20 million per, but he says a conflict over an extension is only "part of why" he wants out. "Regardless of everything that went on with the extension, I'm tired of hearing my name in trade rumors. It's time for me to move on. I felt like they tried to force my hand to Boston with the (Kevin) Garnett stuff," Marion told the paper.
So, do the Pistons have any interest?

Wouldn't Kirilenko be a good fit for the Suns?

A great fit if you ask me. I think Marion wants to play with "good friend Kobe Bryant."

Re: Marion asking Suns for trade

Maybe Marion thinks Grant Hill will take some of his minutes?

Anybody have any thoughts of how Shawn would look in a Piston uniform and who besides Tay would we have to give up? I know Tay plays better defense that Marion, but I like the Tay vs Shawn scenario better than the AK47 for Tay trade proposal thread.

Marion played an awful lot of 4 when Amare was down. A front line of Tay, Marion, and Sheed at center is pretty interesting.

Have to give up Rip and Nazr.

Besides having to give up Rip, which is most likely not going to happen, that is going to slow down development of J-Max and AJ since it will eat heavily into their playing time. Basically, you're bringing in another guy who'll take at least 30 minutes of bigs playing time. If he and Sheed average 30 mins and Dyess with 20, that leaves 16 minutes for J-Max and AJ. Probably not going to work well. And that also leaves us with a hole at SG.

Actually my proposal was replacing Tay with Marion since some considered doing the same with Krelinko. We keep Rip and send Tay, Nazr and flip jr.....and keep our yunguns..

At the risk of getting rotten eggs thrown at me.

Picture of the Hubble Rotten Egg Nebula:

I thought a picture of real rotten eggs would be a bit gross.

I would suggest Nazr and Dupree for C. Wilcox. He is making $6.5 this year and $6.75 next year (his last under his current contract) vs Nazr who will be making $5.6 this year and $6.0 next year. Throw Dupree in the deal. He will be making $.8 this year and the total salaries match up pretty close.

Heck I would even throw in a second round draft pick.

I doubt though that the Sonics would do this deal, so it is more dreaming on my part.

Basically, I love these "we give up nothing and the other team gives us one of their best players"- but they're getting a bit old. JoeD should hire a private eye to have a pressurizing medium so that other GM's finally do these "nothing for a good player"- deals.
