It will be a while before Curry and Randolph share the court. The team announced Monday that Curry had a torn labrum in his right shoulder and, in all likelihood, would need two weeks of rehabilitation. Curry took a more optimistic view, saying that he could return for the exhibition game Oct. 17 at Boston.

“I think that’s very realistic,” Curry said.

If that were to happen, Curry would still play in five of the Knicks’ seven preseason games, giving him more than adequate time to prepare for the season and adapt to Randolph’s presence.

"It will be a while before Curry and Randolph share the court."

I'm guessing that's the first time the word share has ever been used in the same sentence with either player's name.

One should never underestimate the new found strength comes from sharing with someone new.

Many people either aren't old enough to remember the great Celtic/Knick rivalry when both teams had winning clubs or have just forgot about it or aren't familiar with it.

That rivalry still exists. The rivalry between the Knicks/Celtics is a "city" rivalry as much as anything else. Red Sox/Yankees, Bruins/Rangers and Islanders, Patriots/Giants and Jets.

Now that the Celtics have a decent team again the Knicks will definitely put a lot of their recent personnel problems behind them just because they will want to finish ahead of the Celtics and I fully well expect it to happen again this year because the Knicks have more overall talent including depth and a better coach than the Celtics do.

Celtics to trade Pierce?

I think trouble is brewing in Beantown.

Quote:

Though the Boston Celtics say they're committed to trying out their new Big Three, some league executives believe the best strategy would be to trade Paul Pierce for an experienced point guard. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen move and move the ball well, but Pierce stops it as an over-dribbling forward.

Eddy Curry went through a full-contact practice for the first time since tearing the labrum in his right shoulder Oct. 6. Curry is wearing a restraint harness that will help strengthen the shoulder and prevent it from being wrenched again while he is playing. Curry says he hates the contraption but will probably have to wear it when he makes his preseason debut against Boston on Wednesday. Otherwise, he gave himself a positive review Monday. “I killed Malik, Jerome and the usual suspects,” Curry joked, referring to Malik Rose and Jerome James. “I felt good.” ... For the second time this month, Zach Randolph left the team to be with his ailing grandmother in Indiana. He missed Monday’s practice but is expected to be back Tuesday for practice and the flight to Boston.

Thomas Says Journeyman Is Key Piece of the Puzzle

Indeed, Thomas views Jones as a critical piece to a team-wide personality overhaul, from all offense all the time to defense first. Jones, a career backup, has averaged just 6.5 points a game but is known for his athleticism and defensive tenacity.

“He’s a tough defender, and in this league you’ve got to be able to stop people,”omas said. “And as we’re making our transition from a good offensive team to becoming, hopefully, one day, a great defensive team, you need defenders.

The only consolation on this embarrassment is the fact that it was an exhibition game on the road. LOL

Celtics 101 and Knicks (Didn't show up)

I think I could be wiping the egg off of my face all year for starting this thread. LOL

Re: Are The Knicks Better Than The Celtics?

Having watched the game, I can tell you that the Celtics had chips on their shoulders and wanted to win this game badly. There was lots of pushing and shoving and chirping back and forth.

What does it way about the Celtics if they can't beat the Knicks with a full squad? Maybe they won't be a good as advertised.

What does it say about the Knicks? Maybe better than advertised?

That chip has been there for years between the two cities with respect to sports. From the Celtics and Knicks to the Red Sox and Yankees and Bruins and Rangers and between the Pats and Jets.
