Discuss: Conley, Young, Law, Thorton Etc Hindsight at Detroit Pistons Fan Community - PistonsForum.com

Thought it would be nice to have a place where we can post during the season to follow those players ...

Conley, Young, Law, Thorton Etc Hindsight

Thought it would be nice to have a place where we can post during the season to follow those players we were projected to draft instead Stuckey. We can check in to see how these players have affected or infected their teams nightly if at all. Don't recall which if any of the names mentioned above were still available when we drafted and if there were other names that may need to be added. It was a great debate when last season ended and with hindsight being 20-20; this is our hindsight.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and giving me the courage to start a thread. I am always afraid of mucking up the forum so I always "find" a place to put my two cents instead of making a place for it.

We'll see how it goes.

Durant goes down with left ankle sprain.

With all of these ankle sprains already, does anyone know if the league mandated some change in sneakers this year?

SEATTLE (AP) -- Kevin Durant, the second overall choice in the NBA draft, left the arena using crutches and was wearing a soft boot after spraining his left ankle late in the SuperSonics' exhibition game loss to Golden State on Tuesday night.

Durant wasn't a player the Pistons were considering. I think you missed Delfino Deliver's intentions for this thread.

On the night that Amir Johnson saw action in his first preseason game (he was out with a left ankle sprain), another one of Detroit's youngsters - Rodney Stuckey - suffered an injury that will probably keep him out for at least a month.
Not surprisingly, the Pistons found little joy at the end of their 104-85 preseason win over the Washington Wizards.
All the focus after the game was on Stuckey, who suffered a broken left hand injury late in the third quarter.
Stuckey said he wasn't sure how the injury happened, but it's believed that his left (non-shooting) hand got caught in the jersey of one of the Wizards players.
"My fingers just went the wrong way, and here it is," said Stuckey, nodding his head toward his heavily taped left hand.
Team officials said the earliest a timetable for Stuckey's return won't be determined until after he meets with doctors today. However, the break appears to have occurred in three different places in the hand, which would require more than a month to completely heal.

I wonder if it was a jersey that wasn't tucked in, which I believe is against NBA rules.

6 weeks to heal and another 3 - 6 weeks before he can play ball. Once a break heals then you need to go through physical therapy and only after the healed areas are strong enough and the hand is flexible enough will he be allowed to start practicing.

Sounds like a 2 - 3 month injury minimum, maybe 30 - 40 games minimum.

Basically this year is pretty well shot for him. Even if he returns after 30 - 40 games it is highly unlikely that he will get into the rotation. Sending him to the D league at that point would probably be the best move, so he can get heavy minutes.

The problem is that he is trying to learn to play the #1 which is the hardest position to learn to play in the NBA. So it wouldn't make sense to bring a rookie off of the injured list and put him into the rotation after having missed the first 3 months of his rookie year.

Appears to be a real downer.

Maybe we can get Mateen from N.J. His PG skills are certainly a lot a better than Murray even if his shooting isn't and I can't see Hunter being the backup point guard for 3 months.

This is a great and very original idea for a thread DD!

It should be fun to check in on our "could have beens" throughout the season.

My wife always makes fun of me because when I'm about to make a "major" purchase, I'll always research it to death first. Then after I've finally bought the item, I'll still continue to check in on and research similar items well after the fact. Not because I have any intention of returning the item that I bought to get a better one, or getting money back if I see it for cheaper somewhere else. Simply because I'm a "glutton for punishment" according to her. So this thread is right up my alley!

We've made our "purchases". The question now is, "Will we have buyers remorse?"
